Ja’Maal Buster, the man behind Rihanna’s glamourous eyelashes, was so kind to answer for us some questions related to his work. They have been working together on numerous occassions including “Russian Roulette” video shoot, Glamour Women of The Year ceremony, American Music Awards.

RD: How did you start working with Rihanna?
JB: I was introduced to Rihanna by Ursula Stephens, whom I work with together with on another celeb client. She told me I just had to meet Rihanna and do her lashes, cause she would love them. So I went to a photoshoot with Ursula and did Rihanna’s lashes and she loved them and the rest is history!

RD: How do choose a lash for her and why?
JB: I always tell people to pick a lash that goes with your lifestyle. With Rihanna she is a rock star so her look changes day to day, but I alway pick a lash that is not to over powering that it takes away from her natural beauty, but complements it.

RD: Are you planning to work with her durning her 2010 Tour?
JB: Yes, im designing a special lash for her tour. But that is Top Lash Secret so I can’t tell you anymore. Sorry you will just have to wait until the tour.

RD: How can fans who wish to have fancy eyelashes like Rihanna get them? What’s the best way to apply them?

RD: How do you get this natural looking eyelashes (sometimes I can hardly notice if they’re real or fake)?
JB: Some time I use single lashes on her… these single hairs that are applied one at a time… that way it blends very well with her natural lashes. Thank you, if you cant tell then that means my job is well done. “SOAP OPERA” is one of the most natural lashes in my line.

RD: Which lashes from your collection are Rihanna’s favorite?
JB: She really like “WICKED, DISTURBIA, 2ND DATE GUARANTEED” and I made a special lash for her to wear to Glamour’s Women Of The Year Awards it was real mink hair. We named it “ROCKSTAR BARBIE” it isn’t available yet on my website, but it very similar to “I DO”

RD: Any eyelash emergency you can recall? Like suddenly, 5min before a show, eyelashes fall off?
JB: The 1st time I did her lashes was for a photo shoot, and she was also on tour. She had a performance later that nite. in between the two, she got a massage right before the show and had to lay face down so it kind of smashed her lash so I was called backstage to fix them before the show.

RD: Why girls should were eyelashes?
False eyelashes are the perfect accessories to complete any look. They make your eyes look AMAZING and you feel SEXY!

RD: Name people who you would like to have worked with or work with?
JB: Marilyn Monroe or Dorothy Dandridge, I think they are one of the most glamorous women to have grace this earth. I would like to lash our 1st lady, Michelle Obama because you never really see her with eyelashes on, and the one time she did wear them the media talked badly about them. I would like to show her what I can do… Oprah, becasue she always talking about how she hates her eyelashes. And they never really look good on her, I know I could do better.
