  4. Rihanna graces Paper Magazine cover

Rihanna really can't make a photoshoot where she's looking bad! The superstar singer managed to rock almost every color of the rainbow in the latest Paper Magazine issue! Make sure to check all the photos and get the magazine when it's out on newstands! PAPER MAG: It's been almost ten years since Rihanna first graced our cover back in August 2007. It was right when she'd released her explosive third album Good Girl Gone Bad featuring the smash single "Umbrella." Back then, just like her album's title implies, Rihanna was at a turning point in her career, starting to break out of the glossy, pop princess mold and find her voice and her unique sense of style. "[Good Girl Gone Bad] really represents my liberation," she told our writer Bevy Smith at the time. In the decade since, she's certainly found that freedom. She's dropped five more albums, including last year's hit Anti; was named CFDA's Fashion Icon of the Year in 2014 (and accepted the award in that unforgettable, crystal-studded see-through Adam Selman gown); designed two Fenty Puma collections with the athletic brand (and will debut her third in Paris on March 6th); received the MTV Video Vanguard Award last August; and even traveled to Cambridge, MA, earlier this week to accept Harvard's Humanitarian of the Year Award. And, amidst all this, what's nearly as remarkable as her creative and professional accomplishments is the fact that she's remained the cool, DGAF chick who will bring a bedazzled flask to the Grammys and often returns home to Barbados to don a bejeweled bikini and feathered headdress for carnival. Now, the woman who can do it all is lending her talents to Hollywood; she's part of the all-female Ocean's Eight cast, starring alongside acting heavyweights like Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway. For our spring #BreakTheRules cover, our team took inspiration from her budding acting career and chameleon-like powers of transformation to cast her as a high fashion clerk in a bodega of the future. "We thought it would be interesting to put a superstar like Rih in such an everyday surrounding," says Shannon Stokes, who styled our shoot alongside Farren Fucci. "And Farren added the 'future' angle to give it a twist, so it became a challenge to envision what a girl who worked there might look like," he added. In the world where everyone use social media we've thought that RD can't be all like it's still 2009. We need to become a social media tool on our own. This is why we've decided to convert our website to a forum... this way everything on the website can be connected to your user account. You can also be part of this community and we hope you will participate in the forum to exchange your thoughts about Rihanna. We're not sure yet if this is the final look of the upcoming RD - this is why we're hoping for your feedback.

  17. Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid recounts meeting Rihanna for the first time in this exclusive excerpt from his memoir Sing to Me: My Story of Making Music, Finding Magic, and Searching for Who's Next. At Island Def Jam, Jay Z, whom I'd hired to be president of Def Jam, became one of my great teachers. When he first brought Rihanna into the office for an audition in February 2005, we worked like a team. I first laid eyes on her in the hallway. I didn't know she was a singer or anything, just a pretty girl standing outside somebody's office. Then Jay Z burst into my office. "You have to see this girl," he said.We went back to his office and he introduced me. She was a startlingly beautiful 17-year-old from Barbados. She opened her audition with a Beyoncé song, singing, but the whole time piercing me with these laser eyes. I saw her determination, her commitment. I saw someone who was going to be a big star someday. My head was spinning. She sang another song, "Pon De Replay," that would become her first hit. After she was done, I looked at Jay Z. "Don't let her leave the building," I said. I left it to Jay Z's guys to close the deal, and she signed her contract that day. After signing Rihanna, Jay Z and his team did the A&R for her first album, and I had nothing to do with it. The funny thing about Rihanna's success was that we signed two girls at that time -- Rihanna and a lovely young lady named Teairra Mari. We had an in-house company showcase and Beyoncé happened to be there with Jay Z. Teairra Mari, Rihanna, a four-girl group called Black Butterfly and Ne-Yo performed. At the label, we thought Teairra Mari would be the big star. We spent more time on her, did more work on her, paid more attention to her. Rihanna already had a hit with "Pon De Replay," but we still thought it was the other girl. A bell went off for me, however, when, after the showcase, Beyoncé came up to me. "That Rihanna girl," she said, "she's a beast." Source: Billboard
  18. who said there's something exclusive about it? we never posted it so now we do... just like we post throwbacks
  19. When famous music executive LA Reid sat down with Steve Harvey to talk about his glorious career, during the interview he shared that it was Beyonce who told him to pay attention to Rihanna. Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid also recounts meeting Rihanna for the first time in this exclusive excerpt from his memoir Sing to Me: My Story of Making Music, Finding Magic, and Searching for Who's Next.
  20. Straight from her flight from Paris Rihanna, like any other common citizen, joined protesters at the Women's March outside Trump Tower. She was chanting, “My body, my choice” and “Welcome to your first day, we will not go away” along with some dabbing. The singer’s outfit of choice for the protest was also of note with a pink ensemble: a tutu, a cap, and a hoodie that says “This p***y grabs back.” She completed the look with jeans, pink heels, leather gloves that showed off chrome nails, and a coat. When you have something to say, you’ve got to say it in style, honey . Check out more fan pictures in the gallery.
  21. Rihanna was spotted leaving her hotel together with Majesty on Tuesday evening. Latest the singer was seen at JFK airport where she was rumored to catch a flight to France. Stay tuned for more updates.
  22. Rihanna rakes in her 28th career leader on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart (dated Jan. 21), as "Love on the Brain" bumps 2-1. Originally a ballad, "Love" was lifted into clubs via remixes from Barry Harris, Gigamesh and Don Diablo, among others. In the tally of the most No. 1s in the chart's 40-plus year history, Rihanna remains second only to Madonna, who has scored a record 46 No. 1s. Late last year, Rihanna was named the No. 3 Dance Club Artist in Billboard's Greatest of All Time recap of the ranking's first 40 years. "Love" is Rihanna's first No. 1 of 2017, following a year in which she earned four leaders, placing her in elite territory. Only four acts have scored four No. 1s in a calendar year, and Rihanna is the only one to do so four times (2007, 2010, 2011 and 2016). Lady Gaga tallied four in a January-December span twice (2009 and 2011) and Beyoncé (2009) and Katy Perry (2014) each earned the honor once. Last night when fans organised #LOTBTopTenParty the song reached #11 on US iTunes!
  23. The producer and co-creator of Bates Motel, Carlton Cuse (Lost), never thought Bates Motel was a story that needed eight or nine seasons. Cuse and co-creator Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights) saw the show coming to an end after season five, which A&E and all involved are indeed planning to do. The show returns next month for its last season, which features actor/singer Rihanna in a key supporting role. Below, watch the Bates Motel season five trailer. It doesn't future RiRi though. Rihanna co-stars as Marion Crane, who was played by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock‘s Psycho. We’ll see whether the people behind the A&E series have enough bravery (or foolishness) to recreate the famous shower sequence… but the trailer gives us no reason to think that. There’s sadly no sight of Rihanna in this advertisement, set entirely in the Bates’ household, which is now home to one, Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore). Season four ended with the death of Norma Bates, but Vera Farmiga’s presence, of course, is still pivotal in season five, which takes place two years after last season. Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell), Dylan Massett (Max Thierot), and Emma Decody (Olivia Cooke), often a bright spot of this series, are returning. Things for Norma have somehow worsened since the season four finale. Last year, when Cuse was promoting season four, he commented on Bates Motel‘s ending, and how it wasn’t the show makers’ “desire or obligation to exactly align our storytelling with what goes on in the movie.” Cuse told Dread Central Ehrin and him don’t think it’d be satisfying to repeat Psycho‘s ending, so maybe even with Crane’s involvement in season five, things won’t get too familiar and go exactly where fans might expect. Here’s the synopsis for Bates Motel season five: Season five of “Bates Motel” picks up almost two years later and finds Norman (Freddie Highmore), a grown man now, living a double life. Publicly he’s a happy and well-adjusted member of the White Pine Bay community, but at home Norman struggles; his violent blackouts continue to increase as ‘Mother’ (Vera Farmiga) threatens to take over his mind completely. Meanwhile, Dylan Massett (Max Thierot) and Emma Decody (Olivia Cooke), since leaving White Pine Bay, have been living their lives blissfully unaware of Norma’s death and Norman’s full on descent into psychosis. Unfortunately, for them, they will soon find themselves drawn back into Norman’s insanity, while a vengeful Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell), who is currently incarcerated for a perjury, hungers for a chance to destroy his stepson and avenge the murder of his one true love, Norma Bates. Bates Motel returns February 20th.
  24. Nielsen has released its annual music industry sales report of 2016, and Drake, Rihanna, and The Chainsmokers dominated the top 10 list of on demand audio streams. Only three of the top 10 songs on the list did not feature one of those three artists. It's no secret by now that 2016 was a stellar year for pop artists Drake, Rihanna, and The Chainsmokers. All three artists had numerous pop hits throughout the year and featured at the top of the Billboard, Spotify, and other music charts. Now measurement organization Nielsen, which also reports the official ratings for TV viewing, has released their figures for 2016, and the results show just how dominant those three artists were for the year. In fact, there are just three songs on the Nielsen list of top 10 on demand audio streams that don't feature either Drake, Rihanna, or The Chainsmokers. Three of Rihanna songs were placed in TOP10! The number two song on Nielsen's list is Rihanna's addictive "Work," which once again features Drake, with 346.9 million streams. It's Rihanna again at number four with the gritty "Needed Me", followed once again by the lethal combo of Rihanna and Drake at number seven with "Too Good."
