UK Navy! Rihanna is set to join the Sky Living family. In her first ever television project, she’ll be executive-producing and appearing in an original and hugely ambitious new fashion series exclusively for Sky Living HD.

Synonymous with cutting-edge style, Rihanna is searching Britain for the next generation of raw, undiscovered designer talent and has hand-picked Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts to head up the challenge for her.

The show will celebrate the extraordinary talent and creativity in the British fashion scene. With Rihanna, a fashion icon herself, and Nicola, who created her own Dainty Doll make-up range, at the helm, the show will recognise the increasing influence popstars have on mainstream trends.

With her world-class reputation and passion for style, Rihanna is perfectly placed to find an aspiring designer worthy of the chance to break into the hugely competitive world of fashion. Tasking Nicola with fronting the search, Rihanna will be heavily responsible for casting and will be involved in editing post-production.

According to the british Official Charts Company, Rihanna not only has three top selling R&B/Hip Hop Singles of 2011 in UK but also the year’s best selling R&B/Hip Hop albums overall.

While Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull narrowly pip Rihanna’s ‘S&M’ at the post to claim the biggest selling R&B / hip hop track with ‘On The Floor’, RiRi is sitting pretty with the two biggest selling R&B / hip hop albums of the last twelve months with 2010’s ‘Loud’, and last year’s ‘Talk That Talk’, occupying the Number 1 and Number 2 slots, respectively. The singer is set to play a US Navy weapons officer in the film Battleship, based on the popular board game of the same name. The movie is directed by Peter Berg, the man behind the 2008 film Hancock starring Will Smith and Charlize Theron. He says Rihanna has a big future on the big screen.

“I’ve worked with musicians before and I always expected there was a great actress in Rihanna,” he said. “That’s just from watching her intensity and how hot she is in her music videos.”

Peter Berg, 49, spent four months with the star filming near Hawaii.

“For anyone that’s been on a music video set, it’s not so easy to do sexy,” he said. “If it was, there would be a lot more Rihannas.” As for Rihanna’s career in Hollywood, the director said: “Battleship is a small role but she does a great job in it. “If she wants to be a huge movie star then in a year you’ll be sitting here with her talking about whatever her next film is.”
