Rihanna is set to perform at 2010 Kids’ Choice Awards according to People Magazine. The superstar is set to be one of the performers along with the 15-year-old pop sensation, and a huge Rihanna fan, Justin Bieber.
Kevin James will host 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles on March 27. Well, lets hope she’ll perform “Rude Boy” then! Don’t forget to watch her AOL Sessions performance cause she sounds amazing!
Rihanna’s AOL Session is finally online (however, videos are unavailable in some countries). Below you will find some nice pictures from the recording and Q&A.
It’s not readily apparent in her television interviews or music videos, but Rihanna’s got a funny side. “I’m a prankster,” she told AOL when she and her band took over our studio for a Sessions taping.
Throughout the performance and interview, Rihanna was delightfully giggling and showing a lighter side that had all but disappeared recently. Of course, two days earlier she’d snagged a pair of Grammys, a feat that would make anyone smile. Check out her thoughts on the awards, fashion, possible collaborations and more below.
PopEater.com: Rihanna recently filmed her live AOL Sessions performance, which will be launching today, Feb. 23.
The Barbadian beauty allowed our Sessions crew to follow her throughout the day, catching some exclusive behind-the scenes action as the pop superstar prepared for her shoot.

“It’s really colorful; it’s a pop art video,” Rihanna told MTV Korea. “We shot it all on green screen. Everything was done in post-production. It’s really colorful, really energetic. It was really inspired by my Caribbean roots. I love reggae music. ["Rude Boy"] is a Jamaican term, so our costumes are dancehall-queen-like. It’s a fun video. Probably the most fun video we’ve done so far.”
Rihanna’s upcoming tour dance auditions started today in Los Angeles. We don’t know if she’s there or not, however, part of her band is already in the UK.
The tour director is Jamie King and the choreographers are rumoured to be Tina Landon (who works with Rihanna since 2005) and Tanisha Scott.
After the UK promo and the ECHO Awards in Germany, Rihanna, her band and the dancers have lots of rehearsals for the tour, which means she will probably be back to Los Angeles next week.
The tour name hasn’t been revealed yet, however, it’s rumoured to be Rated R Tour.
Two new tour dates in Germany have been added to our calendar, be sure to check it.
Rihanna has had a difficult past 12 months in the aftermath of her assault by her ex-boyfriend. But the “Hard” superstar has endured, by being both outspoken about her experience in hopes of helping others and by channeling her experience into Rated R, her most rounded effort to date. She told MTV News last year that she “vented” on the project.
Don’t expect her next album to be as dark as Rated R, though.
Rihanna said the follow-up, which has no timetable set yet, will be less intense. “Rated R, I love the sound of it, in terms of the bass,” Rihanna explained. “I really like the bottom, the grime of it. But if I were to combine that with more energetic, up-tempo pop records, then I think that will be a happy marriage. And that’s where we’ll probably go next.”
Rated R was inspired mostly by Rihanna’s ordeal in the wake of her and her ex-boyfriend breakup. The singer was the subject of media headlines worldwide. She kept away from the spotlight after a brief reunion with her ex-boyfriend following their altercation. But when Rihanna returned, she had an album that chronicled her months away from the glare.
“This album is an expression of all those feelings that I went through in the last eight months, just different emotions,” she said shortly after Rated R’s release. “All of it isn’t angry, all of it isn’t dark and sad, ’cause I didn’t go through that the whole time. That was part of it. It was really a roller coaster, and you get that when you’re listening to the album.”
The gallery has been updated with pictures from RiRi’s 22nd bday party in Phoenix, on Saturday. You can see Matt Kemp, her best friend Melissa, her personal assistant Jennifer, her background singer Ashleigh, her manager Christa, her stylist Mariel and more!
