Rihanna may be an 8-time Grammy winner, CFDA Style Icon, designer, actress and all-around badass but it's the singer's philanthropic efforts that are getting some well-deserved recognition lately.
Just over two months since being awarded Harvard's Humanitarian of the Year Award, Rihanna was honored at last night's Parsons School of Design Benefit for her philanthropic work and fashion influence. While addressing the audience, the singer talked about the importance of investing in millennials instead of tearing them down:
Later on in the evening, Rihanna and Donna Karan announced the winners of a new initiative in partnership with Parsons, the Design Fellowship program. The project is a merchandise line for Rihanna's non-profit organization, Clara Lionel Foundation, which supports education, health and emergency response programs around the world. Through the partnership, Rihanna and Donna Karan's Urban Zen Foundation are sending three Parsons students to Haiti this summer to work with local designers on the fashion line.

Rihanna will unveil her first Rihanna x Chopard Haute Joaillerie Collection during Cannes Festival. The famous film festival began this Wednesday (May 17th) and will last until next Sunday (May 28).
Rihanna’s love for Chopard jewels has been evident over the years –the star often sports chandelier earrings and rings from the Swiss brand on the red carpet and on magazine covers.
The nine-piece capsule collection is inspired by the lush gardens and carnival-like vibe of Rihanna’s island hometown, Barbados. The pieces are defined by their sharp, clean lines and vivid colours – including the jungle green shade personally selected by the singer. "I have always been in love with Chopard’s exquisite jewellery, so to actually design collections with them is something I still can’t believe," said Rihanna. "It was a really incredible process and I learnt so much. I can’t wait for everyone to see it."
The vibrant jewels will be available in-store from June after they make their debut on the red carpet at the 70th Festival de Cannes. The event also marks Chopard’s 20th year as a partner of the Cannes Film Festival.
