Rihanna and Jay-Z will be the two headline acts in the popular music lineup for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The pair will star in the BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 (June 23-24) a month before the Games, said organizers of the Olympics cultural festival, releasing the program at a news conference today. Comedians Stephen Fry and Tim Minchin will be among other entertainers cropping up in venues across Britain.

“There will be absolutely something for everyone: from Beethoven to Jay-Z, from Shakespeare to Mike Leigh,” Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said at the news conference in the Tower of London. Leigh is a film director.

The festival organizers conveyed the size and scope of the event.

“The London 2012 Festival will be the biggest cultural celebration in our lifetime,” said Royal Opera House Chief Executive Tony Hall, who chairs the Cultural Olympiad board. + Continue reading…

On Wednesday, TIME will release the TIME 100, the magazine’s list honoring the 100 most influential people in the world.

To celebrate the release of the list, five-time Grammy Award winner Rihanna and R&B star Raphael Saadiq will perform at this year’s eighth annual TIME 100 Gala at Jazz at Lincoln Center on April 24. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be delivering the gala’s keynote address. Approximately 350 people attend the gala, including world leaders, politicians, business leaders, entertainers and philanthropists. Notable guests will include Chelsea Handler, Jeremy Lin, Governor Andrew Cuomo, Claire Danes, Matt Lauer, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K. and Cardinal Dolan.

Rihanna will be making a return to Saturday Night Live next month! The 24-year-old singer will be the musical guest on the May 5 episode of SNL, which will be hosted by New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

Rihanna has appeared on the show twice before as a musical guest and also acted in two different Shy Ronnie skits alongside Andy Samberg. We hope that we get a third one!

Rihanna will appear on Japanese TV show Music Station on April 6th. The last time she was in Japan was in February 2010. She’s also listed as one of the performers at Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo and Osaka (August 18-19).

UK Navy! Jonathan Ross has said that Rihanna will be on his show, The Jonathan Ross Show, in about 4 or 5 weeks. RiRi will be performing at this year’s Brit Awards and celebrating her 24th birthday in London next month.

Rihanna will perform on The X Factor USA next Thursday night, November 17th, and on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on November 21st, the day “Talk That Talk” will be released.

Rihanna is going to perform at the Donbass Arena on May 14th to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Ukrainian professional association football club, FC Shakhtar!

The preparation of the ceremony are made by Italian company K-events which held the opening of the Olympic Games in Turin. “The show will be a wonderful gift for our fans“, told Sergey Palkin, CEO of FC Shakhtar.

The grand show will start at 20:30 in Donetsk and will be broadcasted in other cities. Tickets for the ceremony can be already purchased at the Donbass Arena!

This will be the first Rihanna performance in this country!

Rihanna has been officially added to VFestival line up along with Eminem. The pair, who duetted on the recent chart-topper Love The Way You Lie, will perform at Weston Park near Shifnal as well as Chelmsford on August 20-21.

They will be joined at the two-day music extravaganza by eighties favourites Duran Duran, Sheffield band Arctic Monkeys, Plan B, Dizzee Rascal, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs, Bruno Mars and Razorlight.

Rihanna will be promoting her latest fragrance at Macy’s Lakewood, CA on Friday, February 18th. The meeting will start at 6pm.

Martin Short and his late wife, Nancy, are being recognized for their courage by the Women’s Research Cancer Fund.

Organizers say Short will accept the Courage Award on behalf of his wife, who lost her three-year battle with cancer last year, at the annual Unforgettable Evening fundraising event Feb. 10.

Annette Bening is also being honoured at the private star-studded dinner, where Conan O’Brien is serving as host and Rihanna is set to perform.

The Women’s Cancer Research Fund is a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation that supports research and education toward early diagnosis and innovative cures for women’s cancers.

Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw serve as honorary chairs for the organization.

Rihanna’s choreographer assistant Jason Myhre has tweeted that she’s set to perform during NBA’s All Star Game on February 20th.
