Styled To Rock was a success in the UK while airing on Sky Living, now it’s the United States chance to impress Rihanna!
Music meets fashion in Style’s first-ever competition series, Styled to Rock, from executive producer and fashion icon Robyn Rihanna Fenty. The hourlong 10-episode series gives 12 up-and-coming designers the opportunity of a lifetime: to create unique fashion pieces for A-list celebrities. The stakes will be high as these driven artists vie for the title of America’s next trendsetting designer.
“Rihanna is a trailblazer, a trendsetter and the epitome of style. She has a powerful and unique point-of-view that transcends every aspect of pop culture, including fashion, and is a leading creative force,” said Salaam Coleman Smith, President, Style Media. “On the heels of our successful network rebrand, Styled to Rock and Style’s new partnership with Rihanna will reinvent the fashion competition genre, fueling our viewers’ insatiable appetite for all things style.”
Rihanna is inviting innovative designers who believe they represent the future of fashion to sign up here to be considered for the new competition series.
“Fashion has always played an integral part in my life and career,” said Rihanna. “I am so excited to partner with Style Network and share my creative insight with these 12 designers and give them this opportunity to showcase their work.”
The competition launches with a nationwide search for cutting-edge designers looking to take their craft to the next level. Rihanna will personally select the 12 designers who will compete for the coveted opportunity to dress some of the biggest names in entertainment. To help the designers reach their ultimate artistic potential, Rihanna will enlist the guidance of three top experts from the fashion industry to serve as mentors. Each week, challenges will push the designers to their creative limits when they are tasked with styling a star, and that celebrity guest will determine which designer best achieves their vision—and advances to the next week of competition. Faced with the threat of elimination, the remaining designers must meet with the mentors to discuss where they fell short and ultimately who will be sent home. In the end, one designer will be named the winner of Styled to Rock.

What did you think about Rihanna before STR and did your opinion changed over the time? How?
I was always a massive fan of Rihanna, her music and her fashion style. This was part of the reason why Styled To Rock really appealed to me, its very rare to find an opportunity like this that catered towards a very specific style. It almost felt like it was made for me!
What’s your favorite Rihanna song?
That’s a difficult one! It depends how i’m feeling, but I suppose “What’s My Name” is probably my most played closely followed by We Found Love. I love what I’ve heard of Unapologetic so far though I’m sure I’ll find a new favourite there!
Rihanna’s new fashion series Styled To Rock launched last night (August 14) on Sky Living in the United Kingdom. Visit the official Styled To Rock website for all the details, including when you can watch the first episode again.
Rihanna steps off the stage and into the design studio as she produces Styled To Rock, her first television show, in which twelve wannabe celebrity fashion designers create outfits for the stars of the music world. The celebrity judging panel includes Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts, fashion designer Henry Holland and Rihanna’s own celebrity stylist Lysa Cooper. Unlike many stars who put their name on a TV show and then have little to do with it, Rihanna features heavily in Styled To Rock’s first episode. We first see her choosing finalists for the show and the singer seems genuinely invested in her decision. She then chats with the judges about the contestants’ first task: “I want to see how they take direction before we set them loose on our friends!”
Styled to Rock airs on Tuesdays at 9pm on Sky Living.
Don’t forget! Rihanna’s first television programme “Styled To Rock” premierestonight only on SkyLiving at 9pm.
Rihanna is the executive producer of the fashion reality show. The 10-part series is hosted by Nicola Roberts and Vogue blogger Henry Holland, and features a group of aspiring designers competing against one another.
“This show was a way for me to give these kids the opportunity to see how far they can go,” she said in a recent interview. “We’re hoping to find the next superstar designer to dress superstars – someone like Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen.”
The eventual winning designer, whose name is being kept firmly under wraps, had the honour of dressing Rihanna – reportedly creating the outfit that she wore on-stage during Wireless Festival in Hyde Park last month. The show was pre-recorded earlier this year and sees the contestants facing a guest celebrity judge each week – including Cheryl Cole, Katy Perry and Pixie Lott.
“London has always been one of my favourite cities to come to,” Rihanna has recently shared. “I always go out on the street walking around, just to see what the kids are doing. They always set the trends for designers. The kids in London have so much street style and so much talent.”

Nicola Roberts has been working closely with Rihanna on Sky Living’s fashion series Styled to Rock and it seems the girls got along great. In an interview with Look magazine the Liverpudlian singer describes working the Barbadian singer as ‘fantastic’ and reveals the pair are now pals:
“She couldn’t have been more lovely, she’s a real laugh. We all hit it off and had so much fun. She’s truly original. She portrays what she wants to portray through her clothes, and it changes all the time. And that’s something I try to do.”
Nicola stars in the fashion series alongside Rihanna’s stylist Lysa Cooper and top designer Henry Holland, mentoring 12 design hopefuls selected by Rihanna who also acts as Executive Producer.
