Rihanna is Vogue’s new cover girl. The singer is gracing the cover of Vogue’s Special Edition Issue for the 2015 Met Gala. RiRi took to Instagram to share the exciting news with her over 18 million followers. She included the following caption:
“WOW!!! I am very honored to have this image selected for the new cover of @Voguemagazine!! #metgala2015 #art #fashion #Vogue.”
Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief loved RiRi’s gown. During an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the fashion legend said it was “a dress not to forget.”
“I really want to tell you about this dress. Because Rihanna is such a star. She surfed the internet looking for this, and this was designed by a famous, famous Chinese designer Guo Pei. It apparently took one Chinese person two years to make this dress.”
Pei calls Rihanna’s yellow gown the “Magnificent Gold” dress. The designer told the Cut that it took 50,000 hours to create the pop star’s head-turning look.
“The focus and the attention paid to this dress will make it remembered by the world—[what] I want is to make them remember…. It is my responsibility to let the world know China’s tradition and past, and to give the splendor of China a new expression. I hope that people do know China in this way.”
This isn’t the first time that Rihanna has graced the cover of Vogue’s Special Edition Met Gala Issue. In fact, she shared the cover alongside Beyonce in 2014. Check it out.
In case you missed it, Rihanna covers the V Magazine Summer issue and in the mag she’s revealing… some details about her brand new album! Pre-order the issue here.
“The Home record was a soundtrack I created especially for the film,” she says. “My eight studio album was a place for me to completely express myself creatively with no bounderies and try anything that I wanted.” It’s clear that fans are fiending for the album material for that very reason. When she cryptically instagrammed a Paolo Roversi-lensed record sleeve with caption “#March26,” many of her fans stayed up the entire night before, speculating on Twitter about when her new song, “Bitch Better Have My Money”, would hit.
The thing that made me fall in love with [‘FourFiveSeconds’] is the juxtaposition of the music and the lyrics,” she told V. “When you read the lyrics it’s a completely different song than what you are hearing. The music is easygoing, but the lyrical content is very loud and in your face. In performing this, the key was to make sure the aggression wasn’t lost.
As for the rest of R8…
