“California King Bed” is the 4th international single off of Rihanna’s latest album, “LOUD”. The single for North America hasn’t been announced yet.
Don’t forget that Rihanna will perform the track at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 3rd, with Sugarland frontwoman Jennifer Nettles. According to Ri’s facebook page, “Rihanna has a special surprise for you Navy!”
Via Rolling Stone: Rihanna is [on March 17] at a soundstage in Hollywood, expanding her brand even further. She’s the centerpiece of Nivea’s 100th-anniversary campaign, a 1.5 billion dollar marketing effort including TV spots and sponsorship of her summer tour. Today she’s filming the video for her next single, “California King Bed” which Nivea is helping underwrite in exchange for using the song in her ads. Jay-Z is in the building too, showing his support while Cuban. But when Rihanna isn’t ready, even Hov has to wait. “What up, fellas!” Rihanna says as she strides on set, wowing a bunch of union guys in cargo shorts with her flowing see-through nightgown and white lace underwear. She’s about to film some scenes with Nathan, a model she hand-picked herself. There were actually two finalist, so yesterday they both came to the set to show Rihanna their abs. Nathan’s clearly won. Today she greets him with a handshake and an icebreaker: “Hi, I’m Rihanna, nice to meet you. No boners.” The cameras roll and as they lie there, caressing in bed, her song plays over the speakers. A slow sexy ballad about skin on skin, it includes a rather risque line about having “a little last night on these sheets” – which is presumable not a reference to Nivea Soft Intensive Moisturizing Creme. Irish rockers U2 and pop star Rihanna are among the artists expected to be featured on a digital-only album being rushed out by Universal Music to raise funds for Japanese quake and tsunami victims. Also confirmed are Bon Jovi and Nicki Minaj.
The world’s biggest record label aims to make the album available by the end of the week, although the lineup of artists has yet to be finalized. Proceeds will go to the Japanese Red Cross, a spokesman for the group said on Monday.
“We are doing it only digitally because it is faster, and this will be a worldwide release. The plan is to have it available later this week,” he added.
Key to the album’s success will be finding more major acts willing to waive their royalties on the song appearing on the record.
The March 11 earthquake and tsunami left at least 21,000 people dead or missing.

Antonio “L.A.” Reid will leave his job as chairman of Island Def Jam to become a judge on Simon Cowell’s upcoming show “The X Factor,” a source familiar with Cowell’s offer confirmed to Billboard Wednesday.
Island Def Jam will continue to be run by Steve Bartels. Barry Weiss, the former Sony Music executive joining Universal Music Group this month, is expected to add oversight of Island Def Jam to his duties.
In his frewell letter Reid wrote: “I am extremely proud of our beautiful roster and all we have accomplished in my seven years with IDJ. We continue to have incredible success together with today’s most phenomenal superstars – Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Bon Jovi, Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross, The Killers, The Dream, Chrisette Michele, Jeezy and Ludacris to name a few.”
L.A. Reid had a great influence on Rihanna’s music. It is yet unknown how and if it will affect her career anyway. He was recently quoted by Vogue magazine saying about Rihanna: “She became a star before she became an adult. Her nature is to protect herself.”

Rihanna’s record sales in the UK has passed to 10 million mark, her record label has announced. The singer has reached the milestone six years after the release of her debut album, ‘Music Of The Sun’ in 2005.
Rihanna is the only female artist to have a number one hit single in five consecutive years in the UK, and also secured the longest running number one of the last decade with 2007’s ‘Umbrella’, which retained the top spot for ten consecutive weeks.
Her most recent album ‘Loud’ has already prodcued two number one singles and sold over a million copies in the UK, becoming her fastest-selling album.
Mercury Music Group UK President Jason ILey said: “It was clear to me from the first time that I met Rihanna that she had the potential to be one of the most successful artists in the world. “It has been a privilege to work with her these past six years. I believe that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg, and I’m looking forward to seeing her achieve even greater success in the coming months and years.”
