Madame Tussauds New York will unveil global pop superstar Rihanna’s new wax figure at the iconic tattoo shop Sacred Tattoo NYC as a nod to her striking body art on Thursday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m. at 424 Broadway between Canal St. and Howard St. The never-before-seen wax figure will then take up permanent residence at Madame Tussauds New York.
A team of 20 Madame Tussauds artists worked for four months to create the wax figure, which features Rihanna in a classic performance stance. She sports a colorful outfit inspired by the custom-made Adam Selman leather bustier, matching pants, and Manolo Blahnik white snakeskin boots currently in rotation on her sold-out “Diamonds” World Tour. Her red, white, yellow and black ensemble does not outshine her tattoos, however, which have all been meticulously incorporated.
As the top-selling digital artist of all time, Rihanna has sold over 37 million albums and 146 million digital tracks worldwide and won 6 Grammy Awards. This will be Rihanna’s eighth wax figure, joining the Rihanna figures at Madame Tussauds locations in Las Vegas, Hollywood, DC, London, Sydney, Berlin and Vienna.
Sacred Tattoo NYC has hosted New York’s most distinguished artists for nearly 20 years. The 3,000 sq. ft. SoHo-based shop, as seen on television series including America’s Worst Tattoos, NY Ink, Best Ink, Ink Master and others, boasts clientele such as Dave Navarro, Daniel Day Lewis, and Howard Stern.
