Rihanna has revealed that she will be performing at The Grammy Awards 2012 with UK rockers Coldplay.
The Bajan babe took to Twitter to make the announcement, stating that she will join Chris Martin and Co for a special performance of their Mylo Xyloto collaboration, Princess of China, at the ceremony next month.
RiRi tweeted: “My friends @ColdPlay and I will be sharing the stage for a performance at this years Annual Grammy Awards!” The You Da One singer later added: “WE reached 2BILLION views on @youtube !!! THANK U!!! I’m in a great mood, and I got some GREAT NEWS!!! PRINCESS OF CHINA #GRAMMYS2012.”
As well as their planned performance at the Grammys, the 23-year old and Coldplay are also allegedly taking to the stage together at The Brit Awards on 21st February at London’s O2 Arena.
“We Found Love” extends its reign as Rihanna’s longest-leading Billboard Pop Songs No. 1, as the song, featuring Calvin Harris, rules for a sixth frame. That’s twice the total of her three previous longest commands: “Take a Bow” and “Disturbia,” which led for three weeks apiece in 2008, and “Only Girl (In the World)” (three, 2010). Rihanna concurrently debuts on Pop Songs at No. 39 as a guest on Coldplay’s “Princess of China.” The entrance of “Princess Of China” queens Rihanna as the sole artist with the most Pop Songs entries since the Nielsen BDS-based list launched the week of Oct. 3, 1992. Rihanna rarely sings alone. She’s almost always accompanied by another singer, drowned out by synthesizers or Auto-Tuned by an overzealous producer. But tonight, at least briefly, it’s just Rihanna and the microphone. Then Eminem appears and does the unthinkable: he makes the performance even better. When the duo performed “Love the Way You Lie” at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year, they seemed disjointed and unrehearsed. Here, they’ve have found their element. And Dr. Dre, whose cameo could have been an unnecessary addition, only added to the fire. Grade: A
“What’s My Name” feat. Drake
It’s official: the 2011 Grammys should just be renamed The Rihanna Show. For her second appearance onstage tonight, the pop star ditched the ball gown, shortened her skirt and nailed this duet with Drake. I’m not even sure why Drake was there. Apparently he wan’t either; he wandered off halfway through the song. Grade: A-
