Rihanna has become the first female artist to simultaneously top the UK singles and albums charts twice in a year.
The Bajan popstar achieved the feat after “We Found Love”, featuring Calvin Harris, won its sixth week at the head of the singles chart, while new album “Talk That Talk” has also gone straight to number one, selling over 160,000 copies in its first week of release.
Rihanna previously did the same in January, when “What’s My Name”, featuring Drake, and “Loud” topped the singles and albums chart respectively.
Rihanna also becomes the first solo female artist to rack up two UK number one albums in the same year, equalling the record of Michael Jackson, REM, Elton John, Blondie and Robbie Williams, and to have six number one singles in five consecutive years.
She also still currently holds the record for most weeks at number one in the UK singles chart in 2011 with seven, which is one week away from equalling the Spice Girls’ career total.

Rihanna was photographed arriving at O’Donoghue’s pub on Merrion Row in Dublin, Ireland, to host a Thanksgiving dinner for her band and crew. The food was prepared by local eatery Hugo’s Restaurant. A source told the Daily Star newspaper:
“She has reserved O’Donoghue’s pub on Baggot Street for 100 guests. She’s handpicked a special menu laid on by top French restaurant Hugo’s, which is across the street from the traditional Irish pub. Rihanna and her crew have been on the road for a long time and they’re all missing out on sharing the traditional Thanksgiving dinner with their families. The menu includes clam chowder soup and a turkey dinner with mash, vegetables and cranberry sauce. There will be side dishes of macaroni and cheese, plus sweet potato mash with marshmallow sauce. For pudding there’s apple cobbler with biscuit crumble.”

Rihanna tallies a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “We Found Love” (featuring Calvin Harris), while she makes history on the Digital Songs chart with a little help from friend Drake.
“We Found Love,” the lead single from Rihanna’s sixth studio album, “Talk That Talk,” released Monday (Nov. 21), spends a fourth week at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart with 211,000 downloads sold, down 6%, according to Nielsen SoundScan. On Radio Songs, the track lifts 3-1 with 129 million all-format audience impressions, up 14%, according to Nielsen BDS, granting the title Airplay Gainer honors on the Hot 100 for a fourth consecutive week.
“We Found Love” is Rihanna’s ninth No. 1 on Radio Songs, the second-best sum after Island Def Jam labelmate Mariah Carey‘s 11 dating to the chart’s inception 21 years ago.
It’s a historic week on Digital Songs for Rihanna, who becomes the first woman to chart three titles in the top 10 simultaneously, as two new tracks join “We Found Love” in the upper tier: Drake’s “Take Care,” on which she guests, arrives at No. 4 (162,000) and her own “You Da One” opens at No. 9 (124,000). No artist had placed as many entries in the chart’s top 10 since a record six songs by Michael Jackson, led by “Thriller” at No. 2, ranked in the region the week of July 11, 2009, following his passing.
On the Hot 100, “Take Care” storms in as the chart’s highest debut at No. 9 and “You Da One” vaults 73-14 in its second chart week.

“Talk That Talk” was completed in just under two months during the current European leg of Rihanna’s Loud Tour. Rihanna’s vocal producer, Thaddis “Kuk” Harrell, recalls the swift, but arduous, process of crafting her latest batch of Top 40 hits.
Harrell, who produced all of the vocals for “Talk That Talk,” began working with the singer on her smash hit “Umbrella.” He also produced all the vocals for “Loud.”
“The show was the priority, and then the album. That’s how the day was broken up. Rihanna would do her show every night, get done at about 11, go do her meet-and-greet and be done by maybe 1 a.m. Then she’d get to the studio by 2 or 3 a.m., have some rest time and figure out what records to start with,” Harrell said. “I’d make the decision based off where I felt her voice was. Knowing she just did two hours of a show and meet-and-greets, I would suggest capturing the stuff that was easier to get like the lower-range stuff so we wouldn’t hurt or damage her voice.”

Talk That Talk, I felt like I made this album with my fans. I feel like they were there every step, and that’s because they were.
