Thanks to augmented reality technology, a tiny version of Rihanna actually seems to emerge from the cap of a jar of Nivea Creme to sing her song “California King Bed.”

The app, which went live this week, is an attempt to “create engaging digital advertising experiences,” says a statement from the company. Nivea tried to create such as experience this summer with a “Co-Star with Rihanna” Facebook campaign that let users star in a short, alternative version of the music video for the song by editing themselves into the action.

For the AR component, all you have to do is buy a tin of Nivea Creme or print one out from Nivea’s website and hold either up to your computer’s webcam. Then, voila, Rihanna appears.

The show must go on. After being forced to cancel her Halloween show in the Swedish city of Malmo due to exhaustion and a case of the flu, Rihanna managed to perform her second show in Sweden last night. Luckily it seems she’s feeling better now!

Tonight’s scheduled performance by Rihanna at the Malmö Arena has been cancelled due to the flu.

Tour Promoter, Live Nation hopes to reschedule a performance with details to follow in the next few days.

All tickets purchased will be honoured for the planned future date. Refunds will be available at the original point of purchase.

UPDATE: Swedish websites are reporting that RiRi is in Stockholm and is feeling better. Hopefully she will be OK for tonight’s show (November 1st).

Rihanna will headline the opening day of this year’s Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball in London, it’s been announced. The singer was added to the day one line-up during Capital Breakfast this morning (31st October). This year’s event will once again take place at the O2 Arena over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th December.

Rihanna joins a line-up for the first day that already features Olly Murs, The Wanted, Pixie Lott, Calvin Harris and Jason Derulo.

The Ball will mark RiRi’s eleventh performance at the O2 Arena this winter – she is currently in the middle of a record-breaking ten solo dates at the venue.

In previous years, the Jingle Bell Ball has featured performances from the likes of JLS, The Saturdays and the Black Eyes Peas. Though it’s not an official single, Rihanna and Coldplay’s duet “Princess Of China” off the band’s Mylo Xyloto disc is already No. 4 on iTunes. So Coldplay decided to say a quick “Thanks” to their girl Ri by covering her latest smash “We Found Love” during their stop at BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge.

As you might expect, Coldplay completely reworked Rihanna’s Calvin Harris-produced club jam and turned it into a soft, uptempo ballad. Led by a piano melody, Chris’s voice puts a new spin on the dance-pop track: “Yellow diamonds in the light/Now we’re standing side by side/As your shadow crosses mine/What it takes to feel alive/It’s the way I’m feeling, I just can’t describe/It’s the way I’m feeling now.” Chris throws in a few of his signature falsetto notes too, just in case anyone didn’t think this cover was emo enough.

Fly girls get ready, this fragrance promises to entice and entrance all who get within smelling distance with its raw and edgy scent.

“My new fragrance is about taking control but still being a lady. There’s a feminine, romantic element to the fragrance — but there’s also a defiant quality in it,” Rihanna explains in lit for the product, “I love its duality.”

The marketing campaign will aim to capture both her dramatic and daring side while not sacrificing the singer’s innate vulnerability. Shot by renowned music video director, Anthony Mandler, one ad you’ll surely see is meant to empower not only women but men as well.

Rebelle by Rihanna is scheduled to hit department stores around Spring 2012.

Rihanna has kept everyone buzzing this week about her video for “We Found Love,” a dizzying look at addiction.

‘There’s a lot of comparisons to her real life, and that’s not at all the intention,’ director Melina Matsoukas tells MTV News.

Rihanna and her main man in the video, played by British model/boxer Dudley O’Shaughnessy, are not only addicted to drugs, but also each other. The clip’s director, Melina Matsoukas, said the video is a warning about the dangers of those types of dependencies.

“We love, obviously, to do provocative imagery … we always try to definitely push the limits,” Matsoukas told MTV News. “I think because, in the end, it’s not really at all about domestic violence. Rihanna has been nominated for 2011 Soul Train Awards in categories Best Caribbean Performance for”Man Down”, Best Hip-Hop Song of the Year for “All of the Lights” with Kanye West and Best Dance Performance for “Only Girl in the World”/”What’s My Name”.

This year’s show will tape in Atlanta on November 17, but will air in simulcast on both Centric and BET on November 27 at 9pm/8c.
