Rihanna covers ELLE Magazine: photos + interview

Published

on

Rihanna is the cover girl of the October issue of ELLE Magazine USA. She revealed the cover on Twitter and Instagram today (September 7).

And guess what’s featured? Rihanna’s very own Fenty Beauty.

Ri also shared an amazing behind the scenes video. Watch below or here.

In celebration of Rihanna’s sixth cover (and the global launch of Fenty Beauty by Rihanna), ELLE turned the tables and invited some of her famous friends and fans—Tyra Banks, Eminem, April Bloomfield, Zac Posen, Pharrell Williams and more—to share the questions they were dying to ask the global megastar:

David Copperfield, Magician: I’m not kidding, this is a real offer: I can make you disappear and reappear anywhere in the world. Where do you want to go, and why?

Rihanna: Ten minutes before I lost my virginity…and I’m holding you to that offer. LOL.

Laverne Cox: You’ve had so many iconic fashion moments and take so many risks. The iconic CFDA Awards Adam Selman dress in 2014—what gave you the courage to take that risk that was so perfect and elegant yet daring?

Rihanna: Dear Laverne, I took advantage of my titties before they go south. I saw my window, and I took it.”

Plus, she offers her insight on beauty as the brain behind her new makeup line:

ELLE: When did you first wear lipstick?

Rihanna: Lipstick always got me in trouble. Whether it was at home as a kid, or my early teenage years in my career, I always had the urge to wear it. So I broke all those rules. Now lipstick is like my li’l secret weapon!

ELLE: What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done/tried for beauty? Would you do it again?

Rihanna: A corset! I’d do it again, though. I’d wear it every day if I could make it out alive!

For more of Rihanna’s answers to questions—from A$AP Rocky, Olivia Wilde, Danielle Steel, among others—pick up ELLE’s October issue, on newsstands September 19.

The United States is not the only country that will have Rihanna on the cover of ELLE. Check out the UK cover below and a different Portuguese cover that also leaked.

Rihanna is on TIME’s list of the world’s most influential people

Rihanna is on TIME Magazine’s “The 100 Most Influential People of 2018” list! Read the article written by Adele below or here:

“I actually can’t remember the first time I met Rihanna; I was probably numb from the shock of it. She is one year older than me, but I feel like she’s been around forever. The progression of her superstardom feels steady, well deserved and extremely natural. She burst onto the scene with the absolute banger that is “Pon de Replay” in 2005, so young and breathtakingly beautiful. But the first time it felt like she made everyone sit up was with “Umbrella.” It crossed her over to every platform and into everyone’s lives. It felt like she had truly arrived, and she hasn’t slowed down since. Even more, she has designed and conquered an entire lane of her own. The innovative and groundbreaking world of Rihanna that no one else will ever be safe in and get away with copying. She makes her own rules and bends ours.

Whenever I’ve met her, she’s been the most gracious, loyal and funny goofball of an icon. She glows like when someone’s taken a picture with a flash and you’re dazed for a few minutes after. But it’s also very clear in that glow that she genuinely doesn’t give a f-ck; she’s fearless and full of all the right kind of attitude to be everything that she is and will be forever.”

On Instagram, Rihanna wrote:

“thank you for the acknowledgment @time …. and thank you @adele for your kind words! this was such a cool surprise!”

The 2018 Grammy Awards (Pics + Videos inside)

The 60th annual Grammy Awards, hosted by James Corden, took place in New York City for the first time in 15 years. Rihanna was not only nominated but also listed as one of the performers.

She won for Best Rap/Sung Performance with Kendrick Lamar for “Loyalty” and thanked Kendrick during her part of the acceptance speech.

“Thank you Kendrick for giving me this incredible opportunity to be on such a great record,” she said. “I love this record. I’m honored to do this with you. Congrats, you deserve this one.”

Rihanna’s Grammy dresses are always some of her most memorable fashion moments. From her crop top in 2017, to the voluminous pink confection in 2015, her risk-taking style never disappoints. And she’s keeping that trend alive with her 2018 Matrix-inspired trench coat.

Rihanna may have skipped the 2018 Grammys red carpet, but she still delivered a stop-and-stare style moment when she accepted the first award of the night alongside Kendrick Lamar in a high-shine chocolate-colored Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture patent leather trench coat, worn as an off-the-shoulder dress with matching knee-high slouched boots and gloves (both also by Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture).

Rihanna sparkled with energy while she performed her hit “Wild Thoughts” alongside DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller during the 60th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

The songstress lit up the room, as she showed off her killer dance moves in a fringe dress with a red flower pinned in her long locks.
