Why Everyone Is Talking About Rihanna’s Valerian Tour Wardrobe

She plays shape-shifting cabaret performer Bubble in newly released sci-fi film Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets, and Rihanna’s press tour wardrobe has been equally diverse – and entertaining. From frothy Giambattista Valli gowns to feather-embellished Prada, here’s how the pop star has brought life to the red carpets all over the globe.

Prada, Paris – July 25 2017

Feathers have been emerging as a celebrity red carpet-trend for some time, and Prada was the perfect brand for Rihanna to pluck a playful, embellished look from. As per her former Valerianred carpet looks, the pop star kept her accessories strictly in line with a monochromatic theme. Her plumed Prada was complemented by a pair of pale pink feathered Charlotte Olympia sandals, and the beads on the two-piece a bejewelled clutch and tonal diamond jewellery.

Giambattista Valli, London – July 24 2017

A voluminous red Giambattista Valli gown made headlines owing to the low-cut, off-the-shoulder neckline. The empire waist and tumbling fabric is a silhouette the star is confident wearing – remember that sweeping yellow Guo Pei dress she wore to the 2015 Met Gala? Rihanna topped off her voluptuous look with a punchy lipstick, rouge jewels and matching Jimmy Choo clutch.

Nili Lotan, London – July 24 2017

A post-premiere pit stop at London’s Chiltern Firehouse called for a change of outfit for Rihanna, whose Valerian character is known as a “glampod”. Befitting the sci-fi nature of the film, she chose a silver Nili Lotan slip, Prada coat and bag, and Sergio Rossi sandals.

Giambattista Valli, Los Angeles – July 17

For her first Valerian red carpet stint in Los Angeles, Rihanna had a full-on princess moment in pale pink Giambattista Valli Couture. The frothy gypsy-shaped dress with tumbling diaphanous train was contrasted by a pair of lace-up Manolo Blahnik gladiator sandals.
