Happy Birthday, “FourFiveSeconds”

Published

on

Exactly a year ago, we were all taken by surprise when “FourFiveSeconds”, the first single from Rihanna’s upcoming 8th album, “ANTI”, came out!

“The thing that made me fall in love with “FourFiveSeconds” is the juxtaposition of the music and the lyrics. When you read the lyrics it’s a completely different song than what you are hearing. The music is easygoing, but the lyrical content is very loud and in your face. In performing this, the key was to make sure the aggression wasn’t lost.” — Rihanna

Internationally, “FourFiveSeconds” reached number one in Australia, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Sweden, as well as the top-three in Canada, France and the United Kingdom.

The music video, directed by Dutch photographer duo Inez and Vinoodh, became VEVO Certified less than two months after its release. Watch:
