“The Monster” remains at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100
Eminem’s “The Monster” feat. Rihanna bullets at No. 2 on the Hot 100 for a second week after debuting at No. 3 two weeks ago. The collaboration claims the chart’s top Airplay Gainer award for a second week and adds Digital Gainer honors for the first time. It vaults 12-8 on Radio Songs with a 43% increase to 80 million. With the rise, Rihanna scores her 22nd Radio Songs top 10, moving her to within one of Island Def Jam labelmate Mariah Carey’s record for the most top 10s (23) dating to the chart’s December 1990 launch. It’s Eminem’s ninth top 10 and first since his prior Rihanna-assisted song “Love the Way You Lie” spent eight weeks atop Radio Songs in 2010.
“The Monster” returns for a second week at No. 1 on Digital Songs (4-1) with 243,000 downloads sold (up 62%, after last week’s sum was deflated due to iTunes’ Complete My Album returns). “Monster” soars 8-3 on Streaming Songs (6.1 million, up 24%) and takes over atop On-Demand Songs (3-1; 2.6 million, up 40%). The cut is Eminem’s first On-Demand Songs No. 1 and Rihanna’s second, after “Diamonds” shined at the summit for six weeks beginning a year ago this month.
“The Monster” spends a third week in charge of both Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Rap Songs.
