Rihanna shines with a No. 16 Billboard Hot 100 debut for “Diamonds,” the lead single from her upcoming seventh studio set. The start ties for Rihanna’s best as a lead act: she also debuted at No. 16 with “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)” (with Jay-Z, Bono and the Edge) and “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris. She’s begun at higher ranks twice as a featured act: on Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” (No. 2) and Drake’s “Take Care” (No. 9).
On Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs, Rihanna’s “Diamonds” debuts at No. 7 with 133,000. “Diamonds” is the lead cut from the diva’s upcoming new studio effort, due later this year. Comparatively, “We Found Love,” Rihanna’s first single from her last album “Talk That Talk,” launched with 117,000 sold. The track also debuts at No. 28 on Hot 100 Airplay (42 million).
In France, “Diamonds” debuts at No. 1, becoming Rihanna’s 6th #1 single in the country.
Worldwide, the track has reached No. 1 on iTunes in 20 countries and Top 10 in almost 50 countries.
More charts updates coming in a few days.
Congratulations, RiRi!
