Rihanna breaks UK singles, albums chart record
    Posted by on 4:32pm in

Rihanna has become the first female artist to simultaneously top the UK singles and albums charts twice in a year.

The Bajan popstar achieved the feat after “We Found Love”, featuring Calvin Harris, won its sixth week at the head of the singles chart, while new album “Talk That Talk” has also gone straight to number one, selling over 160,000 copies in its first week of release.

Rihanna previously did the same in January, when “What’s My Name”, featuring Drake, and “Loud” topped the singles and albums chart respectively.

Rihanna also becomes the first solo female artist to rack up two UK number one albums in the same year, equalling the record of Michael Jackson, REM, Elton John, Blondie and Robbie Williams, and to have six number one singles in five consecutive years.

She also still currently holds the record for most weeks at number one in the UK singles chart in 2011 with seven, which is one week away from equalling the Spice Girls’ career total.

OMG.. I'm so proud of her! Go UK NAVY, US NAVY let's keep it together :)

I am very proud of Rihanna breaking records in the UK. The UKNavy is strong. U.S Navy needs to step it up! Not sure how Rihanna is not in the running for the top spot on BB200.

YES rihanna is the Queen of England right now!
everyone read thise article that BBC wrote according to them they say rihanna is set to have the top spot on the US album charts! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-1591

LMFAO @ the Navy talking about she sold 300k. She only sold 160k…this is too funny. Don’t get excited chica BBC can’t predict US album position. By the way they did not say she will debut @ #1 on BB 200 chart why b/c she won’t. 160k 1st week sales UK & 200k first wk sale US. How lame. How pathetic. Like I said before UK market is very small. US is the largest market, the most important and the only one that counts.

The US is not the largest market, China is. Please don't discuss international business when it is obvious you don't know what you are talking about. It makes you look bad. Like I stated earlier, it does not matter where she makes her millions as long as she makes them. A lot of U.S. companies now go overseas to do business, so obviously international markets are important.

I'd rather believe what the BBC says then what you have to say. if you haven't notice BBC is the most reliable source.

Look she prob gonna be #2 wich alot of ppl cant even crack the 200 nd she probably gonna be 1# everywhere else in the world so honestly WHO CARES?!?!

fool China is not the largest market when it comes to selling music. Tell me when was the last time you heard an artist sold 1 milloin or more in 1 week in China. They do in the US. Yes when it comes to selling albums or singles US is the largest market and the most important. Get it right. Hang it flat screen.

What do you know about the Chinese market? If you studied international business, you would know that companies like GM sell more cars over there than in the U. S. So it is the largest market, period. As for music, an artist would have to sing in Chinese to be big in China, idiot. So obviously Chinese speaking artist sell well there. People aren't going to buy music they don't understand. You said U. S. was the most important market, you did not say for music. I'm telling you that anyone that knows anything about international business would tell you that you are wrong. You get mad, and stay mad, but you would still be laughed at in an international business 101 class.

A singer would have to sing in Chinese to sell over a million records in China dummy, tell me how many Chinese speaking artists you know and I will tell you how many sold over a million records in China. People are not going to buy a record if they don't understand it. BTW, GM sells more cars in China than in the U. S. I was right it is the largest market, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Please post my previous comment, RD why was it censored? If a Rihanna hater like "last song" is allowed to come here and insult Rihanna and her fans on a Rihanna fansite uncensored. I, a Rihanna supporter, should be allowed to comment uncensored as well.

This is great news and it really gives me a up lift, so glad to hear the great

That Rihanna Reign aint go let up.

I think we all need to STOP addressing the haters and feeding into their bitterness. That is the very reason they have POWER because you give it to them by letting them anger you. That is what they want. I think if everyone just simply ignored the haters, they would not exist..Period…For 2012, we need to focus more on positivity and not on people who have hatred as their full-time job!

According to Billboard, the album is expected to debut at number three or four on the Billboard 200, with sales of between 200,000 – 210,000 copies
