Rihanna Breaks Pop Songs No. 1 Record

Rihanna rewrites the mark for most No. 1s in the 18-year history of Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart, as “Only Girl (In the World)” rises 2-1.

The song is Rihanna’s seventh Pop Songs leader, pushing the singer past Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga, each with six.

“Only Girl (In the World)” introduces Rihanna’s fifth studio album, “Loud,” which is expected to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 to be refreshed, along with all charts, Thursday (Nov. 25) on Billboard.com. The song has reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Follow-up “What’s My Name?,” featuring Drake, topped the Hot 100 two weeks ago.

I dont think its gonna be number 1 because unfortunately not a lot of people know that her album is out…it hasnt been promoted like Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday…but LOUD is a really good album i have it I would recommend anyone get it. And I hope her album sells alot. But I have a problem with this list..what about Umbrella? was that never a number one? as much as I heard that song on the radio it HAD to be a number one lol..

      21. great iam glade you liked it i myself loved it she was amazing. the best performance of that night for me hands down. i was sooo excited for her that i coulden't even sleep cause i kelpt thinking about how fare she had come and proved that she can be a force to racken with and she showed that last night. oh and the haters are still hating but then again that is their job. talking about she was off key, and that she sounded bad. to be honest i do not know what it means for an artist to be off key but who cares rihanna killed that performance last night. Oh at TOYA"SWORLD she quoted that it was the most boring award show and was a waste of her review. also that she ain't doing no more review on any award show unless beyonce performs, i was mad like bitch you could have stated that rihanna killed it. but iam starting to understanding that she only like rihanna for her fashion and that is it.

      26. People need to read. they always get it mixed up. This is the POP charts not HOT 100. These is a difference. If a song is #1 on th epop charts that doesnt mean that is will be #1 on HOT 100. Rihanna has 8 #1 on HOT 100 and 7 on POP. Mariah Carey as 18 #1 on HOT 100 and only 6 on POP…so theres a difference.

      31. Umbrella was number one for some ridiculous amount of weeks… on the Hot 100 charts, not the Pop charts.
        People will see this as her having the most number ones, but they're only on the Pop charts, the Hot 100 is the main overall chart, whereas the Pop charts are pop-music-specific, like the dance charts or alternative rock charts etc etc. Umbrella would have been on the R&B/Urban charts and Hot 100, not on the Pop charts. She still has a lot of catching up to Mariah's 18 number ones on the Hot 100.
