Lil’ Kim and Alex Da Kid talk about Rihanna

Lil’ Kim released her own remix to Rihanna’s “Hard,” but reveals that another pairing could be in the works. “I’m a huge Rihanna fan, and she’s a friend of mine, so if I had to guess, I’m 90% sure that song is probably in the works,” she told Australian website Lifelounge. But Kim, who’s currently playing intimate shows in the U.S. and abroad, doesn’t want people to judge the song before it happens. “I look at it this way: if it happens, it happens. And it should be a surprise. It shouldn’t be something that people are anticipating, or have their own personal opinions on it before it even comes out. So I probably won’t ever mention that again.” Although she may have choice words for Diddy and Drake, it’s all love when it comes to RiRi. “I just love Rihanna, I think she’s great,” gushed Kim.

Everyone is begging for a beat from Alex Da Kid these days. The British producer currently has two songs in the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100—Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie” and B.o.B and Hayley Williams’ “Airplanes.” Alex stopped by Rap-Up’s Pre-BET Awards Lounge last weekend to score some free gifts and chat about his latest projects including Rihanna. Yeah I agree, thats why I said it would be interesting, it has to be just right. Like when Kim was on the Lady Marmalade remake with Pink, Xtina, Mya and Missy that was awesome because it was just right. So I think it could be hot.

I think your talking about the Lillith Fair and on their website they still list Rihanna as a one time performer at the event.

I used to have friendly arguments with CCL a while back about releasing Rockstar as opposed to Photographs. This article reaffirms my point.
My original point was that Rockstar does not translate well as a single. The video kills, it’s a great song with visuals. And this person is right, Rockstar is a great song in context with the Rated R album. CCL made a point that Slash would help boost the song, but it only would have if he was in the video. If you listen to Rockstar you don’t think of Slash, it could be anyone playing guitar, but Photographs has a Will.i.am/BEP signature all over it. Photographs would have climbed the charts easily. It’s a much better radio song. I don’t dislike Rockstar…..but it was a mistake to release it as a single.

@neddir I’m not surprised people just dont spend money on indy and/or little known artist like they used to. As much as I love Rihanna I dont think i would have bought a ticket either because I wouldnt have wanted to sit through all those other artists I have no interest in, especially since shes on her own tour right now and I could see her w/o having to sit through 15 boring performances waiting on Ri to perform.

I need to split, but i have a small rant i have to get off my chest that’s been brewing inside me for a while. I’ve been watching some of these fans taking videos of Rihanna in concert from Europe and now Canada and then of course the US. It’s not only Rihanna, it goes on with other artists as well.
But i would like to see cellphones and cameras banned from concerts. I hate them. If i was an artist performing i would also hate them for a couple of reasons.
Watch the videos, you will see everyone holding up a phone with both hands while watching the concert. This is disconcerting for me. There is no audience participation, they are all worrying about keeping the lens steady so they can show on Youtube. There is no interaction between audience and performer because when the performer is moving on stage you have to follow along with the camera. It’s like you only went to the concert to take pics and video to watch later or post them on the internet. It used to be being at a concert meant something special because YOU were THERE. Now, some people probably don’t even bother to shell out big bucks to a concert knowing they can turn their computer on and see and hear most of the concert. Just enough to feel content on what the experience would have been like. It’s really getting rediculous. Look at the audience…..it’s like they are frozen, afraid to cheer too much otherwise the camera will vibrate too much ruining the video.
I know everyone likes to see the latest tweet pix or videos from her concerts, but i just feel there’s a void happening between artist and concert goer that a lot of people are missing that until recently wasn’t an issue. I’m only 22 but have attended concerts since i was around 14, it has changed, changed a lot, the vibe is different, the enthusiasm is different, it’s not the same, it’s less personal.
JMO, i know most, if not everyone, don’t have a problem with it, but i just needed to say how i feel.

It makes sense when he said RS fits in with the context of the album but doesn’t translate well as a single. I never looked at it liked that. And, I still think RS could have performed better if released right and promoted. But, Rihanna nor def jam seems to be worried, so neither am I. And, I hope TA is not the next single here. The way it was flying up the charts over there and hyped up, I really thought it would be Umbrella 2.0. Top 20 is still good. But, it should be photographs released WW next. RS/TA are both commercial, generic songs w/overly simplistic lyrics. Usually, songs like that fly up the charts. But, when I think about it, RS really isn’t all that commercial–it needed an extra push. On the forums, they are saying Ri and def jam are planning to promote it. Maybe, that could do something for the single. Even if it doesn’t, it really doesn’t matter. One flop is not the end of a career. #ontothenextone

BRAVO BRAVO!!! I agree with you 100%!!! The first concert I ever attended was Princes Jam of the Year tour in 1997, I was 15 and I remember the crowd going absolutely bonkers!!!

Fast forward 14 years later, last year when I went to see JayZ the crowd was hype but your right everyone had their phones and digital camaras and were busy recording the event instead of enjoying it. When I saw Rihanna in Abu Dhabi I didnt give a damn about taking pics my main concern was enjoying Rihanna but there were a ton of people snapping with their camaras.

On a side note I dont like it because it blocks your view as well, when your 4’11” its hard enough to see without 50 people in front of you holding up their arms.

However, this is now the world we live in of instant gratification and globalization so I understand it, and I also think because we live in the internet and social networking world where you can say your whomever you want to be and be anywhere you want to be people want to prove they were really there. I mean think about if someone says they saw Rihanna at Macys, people immediately want proof pictures or video so all those elements come into play now.

On that note I think like you I started going to concerts before camara phones, twitter and facebook so we know that good energy. The teenagers concert going now this is what they know and sharing those experiences instantly are deeply apart of their culture.

I like how Rihanna is expanding herself and working with other writers instead of working with the same old writers over and over again. I would like rihanna to work with Chad Hugo he is an amazing and he partners with pharrell so if rihanna could work with both of them on the same track that would be HOT!! Rihanna said she would love to do something with pharrell so I hope something like that happens in the future.

I never use my camera while watching a concert. I usually take pics while watching the openers and afterwards. A concert is a memory and should always just be a memory. You don’t need to record the whole damn thing. Especially when the artist will probably make their own DVD of their tour anyway.

@ the topic. I don’t think Rihanna working with Kim is a great idea, especially now when there is “beef” i guess you could call it between Nicki Minaj and Lll Kim. People will think Rihanna is choosing sides or that Rihanna doesn’t like Nicki since she cancelled on being apart of the tour. We don’t need anymore negative rumors concerning Rihanna. There is already enough. I’m surprised Lil Kim even likes Rihanna because i doubt she would be saying all of this if Nicki Minaj was going to be on her LGOE tour.
