I think you need to take into consideration that this was taped on a random camera/ or phone.
Even at the end when she speaks her voice sounds "rough" I think it was just the qaulity of the recording. (And OF COURSE her voice sounds different on a mastered record as opposed to live).
I Have taped plenty of concerts that sounded PHENOMNAL in person…but when I upload the video….its total crap!

I dont like that sound Hard and after that interview the other night, I'm not too sure about her cause she did not seem sincere about some of the things she said…Chris was wrong for what he did but i have a strong feeling she started hitting him cause if she couls crack her brother head open with a bottle when they were younger who's to say that she has'nt been beating on Chris for a long time and then he just finally snapped……

Um…. are ya'll for real? Rihanna is not known as a fantastic vocalist. Not when she first came out and not now. She can give some really good performances but nobody expects her to be the old school Mariah or Leona Lewis or Beyonce. Just like nobody expects Britney to sing well. That's not what they do. You either accept them for what they are & enjoy that or not be a fan because she isn't going to turn into some amazing singer at this point in her career.

a long time fan that didn't know rihanna didn't have the best vocals in the world.i'm a part time fan i knew as much i'm also spoiled with listening to pink,christina and most recently leona. i'm coming into this with both ears opened and it sounded better than i thought it would,now i feel odd knowing i wasn't really that big a fan before now.

Watch the 1st video on a better camera…her voice sounds totally different.
And I never thought she was a Whitney Houstan type singer. Her voice works for her songs. Lots of female singers dont have the biggest voices in the world (I'll list some if you'd like).
And I say that as someone who works in the live music industry and goes to concerts as part of my job.
Can you imagine any other voice singing Umbrella? Her voice works for the songs THAT SHE SINGS.
Rihanna is Rihanna. Unique voice and sound.

…yeah she might need to practise more after staying this long away from the stages,and that's why she has been rehearsing a lot…but as i said we have to consider also the fact that this was the first time that she sang Hard live,those cameras sound quality sucks sometimes …and she probably will improve more and more each time that she performs it ,just like Disturbia….and she also might be tired from all the rehearsals….i personally think that she sounded great on RTT though…

i remember like last year around the vmas…i was up here…n i said rihanna didnt sound good live n that she needed some vocal lessons…n its like a whole year later…n shes gotten WORSE…if i took all that time off…dont u know i woulda been in the studio everyday perfecting my craft. but thats me…like someone else said…no one expects rihanna to come out singing mariah carey notes…so…yea…this is how she sounds….so take it or leave it…but i still say she needs vocal lessions…like…she sounds fine on her albums…(russian roulette especially)…so if she could sound like that live…she would be great…theres nothing wrong with some constructive criticism…n if she comes here so much…she would listen to us…n get the lessons….

was amazing. So did Ms. Info, and two faced ass perez who are not fans of hers. She
had to sing back up, and her vocals, and she was amazing!!! Did you hear the crowd
roar!!! Her swag was on 10,000!! Plus they loved Hard, which I think is a super, duper
hit!

As one who attended the concert let me say i'll be brief but to the point. Rihanna was fine on RTT. She struggled on "Hard" but this appearance wasn't and won't be any indication of future perfornances do to the fact it was raw. Rihanna definately is apprehensive on stage, she seemed lost at times. But she was nervous as hell because many of the mans in the audience do not like Rihanna for whatever reason. But, she did well given the circumstances and will improve by the AMA's. Most of the non Rihanna fans in attendence were polite out of respect for Jay-Z. The large majority of fans were very enthusiastic. She will be fine. I'm also liking the blonde hair. I also hear she's buying a house here soon.

You see, the song "Hard" is not really being sung, it's more of a talk-sing kind of song border-lining on rapping.
It's gonna be a little different for her to perform this track. I think for X-Factor she should compose herself and sing "Russian Roulette". "Hard" is not gonna translate well if she performs.
