Rihanna rocked the red carpet in an ultra-glamorous gown by Stephane Rolland at Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year Awards. She was honored at the ceremony for her philanthropic work and turning her own experiences into positive ones for young girls. Accepting her award, Rihanna shed a tear, saying she was PMSing, and thanked BFF Melissa, Mariel, Jay-Z, her label Def Jam, her granny and mom.

As usual, I decided to wear the tightest dress I could find. Shoutout to Amy!
I am shaking right now – I am so nervous – but overwhelmed and honored by this honor to be Glamour’s Woman of the Year.
I didn’t even know I had to speak, I didn’t know what kind of event it was, I didn’t know anything until a few hours ago. I had to say to [poet] Maya Angelou, I love you but you made this terribly more difficult for me. (pulls out piece of paper) So I made a little thank-you so I wouldn’t forget anybody.
First, thank you to Iman – it’s very incredible that you’re presenting me with an award. It was a real honor to be named Glamour’s Woman of the Year, especially because I think of myself as just becoming a woman. I just turned 21 this year.
Just to be mentioned in this group of women is overwhelming. I love being a part of a night where we’re celebrating women and such strong women. Thank you, Glamour, for giving me Woman of the Year. Thank you, [Glamour editor-in-chief] Cindi Leive. [JustJared.com] I also want to thank all the people who helped get me here. Melissa [Forde], my best friend, Krista, Mark, [Roc Nation executive] Jay Brown, Jay-Z, [producer] L.A. Reid, everyone on my label at Def Jam, my girls (stylist) Mariel [Haenn], (makeup artist) Mylah [Morales], (hairdresser) Ursula [Stephen]. They help me look cute! Everyone at Revlon, and my entire family who flew here from Barbados – shout-out to you mommy, hi!
I really look up to my gran-gran and my mom. They are my two women of the year. I love you very much, granny. I love you very much, mom.
They’ve shown me what strong women can accomplish and achieve. Without their unconditional love and guidance, I wouldn’t be here and I hope I can be an example to young girls and women today. Thanks so much.

your welcome guys!!!! i think her hair looks great in this one. there is alot of negative comments going on about the 20/20 interview, but we should look at it this way, Rihanna has saved the life of a women, even if it is just one person walking away from an abusive relationship, you have to give it up to her. Alot of people arnt able to do what Rihanna has done. So in respect to her, let keep this positive, and lets send all our positive energy her way.

It's very sad that she doesn't feel the need to thank her dad as well. People need to learn to understand that it takes two to bring an egg together and if your parent was there despite their fault you must always respect them and give them love unless they are dead beat dads and it doesn't appear that her dad was that type of a person. he was only a wife beater and a drug addict as she clearly stated.

She looks great, however, this all may backfire on her. Many people feel she is using the domestic abuse angle to promote her album. Let's be real, she should have come out months ago to give her side. But the timing of this isn't even questionable, This may hurt her down the road.

She looks great.
I know I shouldn’t talk about it but it just makes me angry. We shouldn’t mention CB and his team here, because they aren’t really important. They are only showing their hypocrisy. They are implying that Rihanna is talking about DV only because promotion of her album but they’re somehow forgetting that CB during his career and promotion of his previous albums was talking about his stepfather and abuse numerous times. They are obviously doing it to save his career.
We should concentrate on positives, Rihanna’s interview opened many people’s eyes, helped in understanding victims and seriousness of DV. That’s important. She maybe has few more haters now but she also gained respect from many people and respect probably will last longer than hate.

@1sctrojan you are telling the truth even other people in the industry are mad at her right now. what the hell is she doing. i know some one that was back stage with her at a concert and you would not believe the things they told me seriuosly.

She's absolutely stunning!!! Rihanna looks ridiculously beautiful! I love it when she gets all glammed up!!! She's so on point in everyway!! Only Rihanna could have pulled this look off! Just damn gorgeous for words!! Dammit I'm speechless.

I don't know why people are questioning her timing, when Chris came out and spoke about the issue 1 month before she did, and he has an album coming out as well. Why aren't they saying that he is using this to promote his album also? The girl did one interview on the matter, so I don't know why people are saying she is using dv to sell albums. Is she going on shows over and over again rehashing the issue? No she is not. This is just something the rihanna haters are latching on to to try to ruin her. They need to get over it already, because she is ready to move on.
