You’ve seen Rihanna speaking out this week. DoSomething.org thinks she is super courageous and awesome for telling her story.
1 in 3 teens will be in an abusive relationship. That is NOT ok! Maybe Rihanna speaking out, telling people not to go back to their abusers, will help stop the violence. She could be the role model that ends an epidemic.
So we’re compiling a ginormous thank you to Rihanna. Send a heartfelt note to thankyourihanna@dosomething.org by noon EST on Monday and we will deliver it to her Monday night. Thank her, support her, share your own story, tell her how she helped you, or just plain show her some love.
For real. We wanna have a binder of like 3,000 amazing thank you notes—so that she stays strong and becomes the fierce leader this movement needs.
And to thank YOU, for every heartfelt letter we receive, we’ll send you a free download of Rihanna’s latest single.
DoSomething is paying for this. Rihanna doesn’t even know we are doing it. We simply think she rocks. And if you send her a nice note, we think you rock too.
So send your note to thankyourihanna@dosomething.org by noon EST Monday.

What happened to the "Ask Rihanna" special? She never answered our questions.

@Woahx3 …yeah…i was wondering the same thing a few weeks ago…
..i remember that RD posted once that she read the questions and loved it and she would answer it as soon as possible…maybe she didn't have time yet with this crazy schedule and video shoot, recording, photo shoots, meetings….
..but i think she will answer it…i just don't know when though…lol..

That is such a nice thing they're doing. I really feel that if Rihanna's interview helped just one girl/guy then she did her job and I think she needs to know supportive people are in her corner.

I've no need to thank her .. except for 'compassionate entertainment' I got from that !! ..
But It's quite a good reason for other victims of DV .. to say thx4help !! ..
I've already written enough to say .. she handled the situation well .. although I don't like the fact she became a public figure stuck in a victim-role in a DV case !! ..
Honest .. I know better ways to say what I think .. sometimes !! ..

@ HaHA
Ur trippin
Comment by HATER PWNER — November 8, 2009 @ 7:16 am
@HATER PWNER .. trippin ?? .. Tell me what it means .. so I'll tell you !! .. *scratches head*
And what's wrong with my opinion !! .. I know what that whole DV thing is !! .. I'm just denial of the fact I've seen all kinds of abusive things in my live before !! .. My parents also did .. I got that thing on me when I was a kid .. and people around me were like seeing it .. and put me on blast !! .. It's damned ugly to have it out in the public eye !! .. So say .. I don't know what I write !! ..
Fuck off !!

ok so i know some think this is a little silly (im winking at my collegue, whos sitting next to me shakin her head) but i'm grateful for the opportunity to say thanks to rihanna for her story.
We just want to share a little story with the RD community just to prove her words has helped others.
The residents here at the hospital where i practice have seen a 20% increase since Friday night in DV cases, thats not a huge deal but the great thing is of the 13 cases we've treated since FRIDAY 8 have actually gone through and reported it and accepted the help from us, law enforcement and social services. We dont see that often at all thats over a 50% increase of reported abuse for our hospital usually we patch them up and they go on about their business never reporting it.
We have talked with residents at 2 other local hospitals and they've all seen a similar spike in reported cases since friday rightly or coincidentally we all have attributed this to Rihanna.
So for ya'll that thought she shouldnt have talked about, i think this is just proof of how her words have affected others.
On behalf of the staff here hell yeah we're thanking her, even though its kept us kinda busyand i havent had as much time as i'd like to be on RD …lol

@zazzy thanks for sharing
Comment by pixie — November 8, 2009 @ 9:03 am
Wow .. really kewl @zazzy .. but it doesn't change the fact that it's still happening !! ..
This is what I'm so upset about !! .. Like .. 4real .. that's what's to make it better !! ..
If the 'abusers' would change their minds .. it would be even more worth it !! ..
I'm just looking at .. the ROOTS of those things !! .. Cause there it starts !! ..

@ zazzytink
Thanks for sharing,
This is why it was so important for Rihanna to do that interview and put it out to these teenagers that its not ok to be/stay in an abusive relationship…
While girls are talking about this with their Mom, Sister,Teacher or Friend, it'll make it easier for them to confide that its happening to them, and to get the help and support to get out of the relationship…

Rihanna, Thank you for comming forward to tell the story of the incident in which you suffered physically, spiritually, and emotionally in the public's eye. You showed
courage, strenght and maturity in your interview with Diane Sawyer. I was moved by your conversation, I kind of felt a sadness at the same time I felt proud of you. Life has its ups and downs for us all. But you can continue to heal and move forward.
You have definitely made an impact on society, both girls, boys, men and women.
God is there with you at all times, and I feel you have a spiritual mother thay prays for you all time. I have 3 children of my own, And no matter how old they are, parents are always concerned for them in all facets of life.
Rihanna continue in your career and I wish you God's speed.
Love, Peace and more Love !!!
