Its called "Rated R" So thats why the photographers and her produce probably thought that she should stick with a theme. and to me it works. This is how a movie would be. don't think to much into it. When this is all over and she comes out with a new album you will see that she won't keep posing like this. ITS ONLY FOR THE THEME OF THE ALBUM. Go Rihanna!
