Below you can read basically what Rihanna said. What Good Morning America showed today was really touching, RiRi almost cried. Her full interview will air on “20/20″ at 10 p.m. E.T. Friday, Nov. 6. We will post the video as soon as we can. Watch the video above or here. Thanks, LilKimFanclub!
“That’s embarrassing that that’s the type of person that I fell in love with,” Rihanna told “Good Morning America’s” Diane Sawyer in her first television interview discussing the assault. “So far in love. So unconditional that I went back. It’s humiliating to say this happened. To accept that? It’s a traumatizing experience.”
Her decision to go back to Brown, she said, was a mistake.
“I stayed. I even went back after he beat me, which was wrong,” she said. “But again … I’m a human being and people put me on a very unrealistic pedestal. And all these expectations, I’m not perfect.”
The 21-year-old star acknowledged that Brown held her in a headlock twice that night and bit her on the ear and fingers.
After months of silence since the February beating, Rihanna decided to speak publicly about the ordeal so she can be a voice to help others who may be in danger of returning to abuse.
“It’s completely normal to go back. It’s not right. I learned the hard way, but again, this is what I want people to know,” she said. “When I realized that my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that part. I couldn’t be held responsible for going back.
“Even if Chris never hit me again, who is to say that their boyfriend won’t? Who’s to say that they won’t kill these girls?” she said. “These are young girls and I just didn’t realize how much of an impact I had on these girls’ lives until that happened.”
After a nine-month hiatus, Rihanna is back on the music scene with a new hit album, “Rated R,” signaling a return from a time of intense loneliness following the assault.
“One of the most lonely times I’ve been was in the past few months because nobody understands what it’s like,” she said. “There are a lot of women who’ve experienced what I did, but not in the public. So it made it really difficult. I just felt like, ‘Oh my God, here it goes, my little bit of privacy.’”
In August, Brown was sentenced to five years of probation, six months of community service and one year of domestic violence counseling for assaulting the 21-year-old pop singer the night before the Grammy Awards.

My heart broke for her in February and my heart is breaking for her all over again watching this.
We all support u Rihanna! You are indeed strong! You've gotten out of an abusive relationship…most women wish they had ur strengh. So many women don't even acknowledge that they are being abused, they use all manner of colloquisms for it and rationalize for years.
We are proud of you! You took your time. Got yourself together and when it was RIGHT FOR YOU, you are addressing the public.
Nov 23rd we'll support u too!!!

I love the part where she said "F Love… look at the situation third person… Love is so blind" Truer words have never been spoken! Love is not only blind but it's also very forgiving so you do need to step outside of the love in order to look at the situation objectively.
Go Rihanna!

Comment by MikeNMiami — November 4, 2009 @ 9:45 pm
Rihanna is a strong young woman and I credit her upbringing and strong survival ethics her mother instilled in her growing up. What I got out of the interview is basically what most of us go through at some point in our lives…..blind love. Your soo into a person that you don’t see how unhealthy a relationship can be on your life. It was particularly worse for Ri becuz of her celebrity. This brought tears to my eyes… she could’ve been killed. I just found out that one of my co-workers sister was shot and killed by her boyfriend this week…I’m attending the funeral Saturday. As for Rihanna, she’s has a strong support group in her cypher…she’s at a good place in her life right now…and free of CB. Her star will keep shining brighter…her future holds many rewards and we as her adoring fans will be with her every step of the way….Congrats RiRi on telling your story to inspire so many young women to take a stand against DV. Love U.

She's so articulate compared to that "dude", I'm so glad she spoke up so all of his fans can stop coming up with stupid scenarios on what she did to make him turn into a monster. Finally we will know the truth about what happened in the car that night, I always felt like Chris didn't want to talk about what happened not for RiRi's sake but to save his own ass.
Comment by BREAKITOFF — November 4, 2009 @ 9:50 pm
I`m gonna kill him!!!!! HOW CUD HE BE SOO STUPPIT AND….. I REALY WANT TO KILL HIM RITH NOW
Comment by nikol — November 4, 2009 @ 9:53 pm
Omg, It made me feel so bad when she almost started crying, and you can tell it was real. In Chris Brown's interview he didn't show no emotion whatsoever. I hope after this interview that people will give Rihanna a break, and stop blaming her and holding this incident against her. I'm anxious to see the rest of her interview tomorrow.
I will say though that it does kind of hurt to know how Chris Brown really is, what kind of a person he really is (obviously an a**hole). I never would've thought HE would be that type of person. And I use to like him so much, but now it's like, How can I still like him after this?
Anyways, Rihanna you are definately a strong person! and I'm sure it took alot of guts to do this interview, I know it had to be hard for you to do this. But, I'm glad you did, b/c people need to hear your side. Stay strong, and continue to do you! Do whats best for you Rihanna! And ALWAYS Keep God first! I love you and wish nothing but the best for you, and forget the haters!

Comment by christine — November 4, 2009 @ 10:08 pm
I'm pretty sure that night was hell but you mean to tell me that she went back cause of love. Naww I ain't buying that. When I saw rihanna in orlando she was rude not fan based and cocky. When asked to take pics she said no and chris brown said yes. He was the only one that gave a dam about his fans. She got so annoyed she even threw her dog in his arms and made him stop talking to his fans. And then she definitely rude to TSA. So this poor I never hit him or slap him either mess needs to stop. Don't get me wrong what he did was messed up but is she all innocent? Because what I learned in private school is ur actions speak louder than words. And her actions to me is that she was abusive too… just my opinion.
Comment by cheryl — November 4, 2009 @ 10:12 pm

This is one of rihanna's favorite songs, this is what I would sing to her if I could have a moment with her. We fans should support her, not blame anyone or even say nothing about chris brown. He is not even deserved to be named.

Ok, so I understand that Rihanna fans are supporting her 100%. But I only praise those who are ONLY worried about supporting her and NOT pumping up these damn HATER comments! I'M SORRY BUT ABUSE IS ABUSE AND IT IS NOT A DAMN JOKE! You guys are playing around with this situation like it's funny and your excited to see what CB and Beyonce fans have to say, AND THAT'S IT. Listen to yourselves. Those who are doing so, your comments are VERY disappointing. She's not an animal for show and once again THIS ISN'T A JOKE!
I don't agree with everything that Rihanna has choosen to mention, BUT I do feel sorry for her because LOVE can take a hold of you like that. It's sad but true. In all honesty, people may say it's not an excuse but they won't know until they go through it. SMH, it's sooooooooo much I want to say but above everything else, I see a lot of you are taking this as a JOKE. SMH.

Comment by Rocsi — November 4, 2009 @ 11:08 pm
To me it is just disgusting that CB would do yet another interview! It is disgusting, it is low. It just goes to show what a piece of scum he truly is!!! He knows what he did – Right now CB IS DESPERATE!!! He's trying to save face, but the damage is already done!!! The more he talks the more desperate he looks. Dude, fall back!!!! CB is not a real man, he's playing head games!!! "Oh so you do an interview on GMA well I am going to do one on MTV" The real sad part about this is – folks are actually entertaining him!! Why would respected organizations like MTV and Hot97 (NY radio station) continue to hear his side like he has some valid point!!! CB YOU WERE DEAD WRONG TO DO WHAT YOU DID TO RRF AND YOU ARE STILL DEAD WRONG TODAY!! Nothing is going to change that!!! When are you going to understand???? It just goes to show that CB has learned nothing from this, nothing!! And I am sure he'll abuse another woman again. I just pray that Rihanna gets over this and gets the counseling she needs to get over what he did and move on, which I know she has done! Be strong Rihanna! Don't let CB intimidate you! That's what he's doing and I just think it is SICK!!!

Very touched by her interview today. Friday night is gonna kick my ass! (Dont forget there is more on GMA in the morning Friday as well).
A lot of people are saying she shouldnt be putting this out in public…ummm first of all everybody took her "little bit of privacy" away Feb 9th so she really has no choice.
And the mentality of keeping it quiet and behind closed doors (like she mentioned in Glamour) is part of the cycle of domestic violence that goes on all over the world. Good for her speaking out.
And I think she needs to go into the gorey (sp?) details to make people understand THAT THIS IS NOT A JOKE!
On a personal note – one of my co-workers was stabbed by her boyfriend 16 times last week. Last person you would have ever thought would end up in a situation like this. People need to take relationship violence seriously.

I am so pleased she is addressing this issue not only for the fans she obviously cares about but also so she can move on without having this hung over her. I'm especially pleased that she is addressing that this issue (abuse) is not joke. Like everyone else she is a real person and her life was temporarely devastated. I work in an ER and have treated abused women and children and I don't now nor have I ever found any humor in her situation.
I've always found it fun and entertaining to be a fan of hers but today I'm truly proud to be her fan. That's just my 2cents on it.

I APPLAUD Rihanna for speaking out on an issue that is too often swept under the rug. I too was once a victim of domestic violence. I know exactly how she feels and the aftermath of it all. Going back to an abuser is normal and she's right. I also went back to my ex, who abused me for two years. A lot of people who ask, why did she go back doesn't even have a clue what it's like to be in an abusive relationship. I will be watching the full interview tomorrow.

Very moving…she wasn't saying that Chris beat her 8 or 9 times she was saying that the statistic is more like 8 or 9 as opposed to what Diane said 6 or 7. She has been doing her homework on the stats…that's good. I really wish she would not go in to the details of what happened in the care though….I don't see how that helps anyone to know that….but whatever she needs to do to heal i guess. My prayers are still with her AND Chris. I love them both.
Comment by Tracie — November 5, 2009 @ 12:38 am
It takes courage to face the world day after day, knowing everyone is judging you and debating YOUR personal life in blogs, and on the news. Yet she still remained strong. And she did it day after day, even before she spoke out. That takes inner strength and confidence. She had to put on a brave face for the public. I bet every time she talked to someone after the fight, she always wondered in the back of her mind what they thought of her.. Noone should have to go through that. Robyn I applaud your courage, not only to speak for yourself, but to be the voice for so many women who don't have the strenght to do it themselves. Bravo!

I have never felt more sad for anyone than I felt for Rih today. I don't mean feeling sad for her in a condescending way, but I have empathy for her. I felt the pain of her decisions as I listened to her interview. I felt sorry for her because, based on her statements, she may never know love again. She has had to forego Love for the sake of the many young girls that listen to her music. That is a huge sacrifice. If anyone has ever doubted her strength, don't doubt anymore. Only a person with strength of character and conscience could live with the choices that this young girl is living with. Knowing that you love someone and that they love you in return, but choosing to be apart for the sake of people that you don't know… well, let's just say I wouldn't do it.
I have MAD RESPECT for Rih and I hop that she does LOVE again.

Rocsi- she was talking about statistics. Usually a woman will continue to stay in the relationship and get beat up 8 or 9 times before she makes a decision to leave the fool.
Comment by RG — November 5, 2009 @ 12:47 am
I love her. She shows how smart she is and I support her all the way.

It amazes me that Chris Brown would suddenly have something else to talk when he had that opportunity months ago on Larry King Live……everyone jumping up and down talking about Rihanna speaking because she has an album coming, well so does he, the pictures we saw of Rihanna she did not bruise and batter herself, and no one knows about the hitting first thing, I cannot understand why people would still talk like they were in the car that night……..the whole point is that Rihanna was found helpless next to the street in a car and he ran away, probably left her to die or he was scared if she did die after he held her in a choke hold or something. What could he possibly have to say now try to rebut what she says – then this could go on and on and on for months on end again. It has to stop somewhere and as long as Rihanna got her side of the incident out there, then put all the blogging and arguing behind, and just move to the next level.
The View had their discussion on the interview and Sherry or Cheri whatever her name is made a comment about when Rihanna said she it was embarrassing to know that is who she fell in love with…….I think it was misconstrued, I think she meant she was embarrassed that she got so deeply involved with Chris and in the end he turned out abusive to that extreme and the whole world had to learn about it that way. Seems like they are saying she was embarrassed to have been in a relationship with Chris and I don't think she meant it that way……but my honest opinion she should be embarrassed to have been with Chris becase all he has done is pull her down with his inarticulate self.
Ok – I won't say anything else today about this, will wait until tomorrow – I am getting weary of this thing all over again – I need to take a break, I will be a keyboard warrior to defend my Rihanna to the end………"F LOVE"!

It’s hard to watch but I’m glad she did it. I’ve never expected her to be so honest. I feel bad that I had some doubts about her and her strength before.
Comment by Margaret — November 5, 2009 @ 5:57 am
I think Rih is in a very difficult place in her life. I think this may be the most difficult thing she's done in her short 21 1/2 years. With all of her success, a new project on the calendar, opportunities knocking left and right, in this interview she seems deeply saddened by the whole chain of events and what it has cost her. People wanted to hear her story, so she's saying what people want to hear, but the people that wanted to hear from her still don't get how much she's still dealing with it. I pray her PEACE.

Comment by Chilosa — November 5, 2009 @ 7:08 am
@YEEZY, THERE IS NOTHING FOR CHRIS BROWN TO PROTECT. HE KNEW WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG SO THERE IS NOT MUCH HE CAN SAY ABOUT THE INCIDENT TO JUSTIFY HIS ACTIONS.
Comment by bajeboi — November 5, 2009 @ 7:18 am
Stfu yeezy. She aint throw him under the bus. He did it to himself through his retarded, immature, impuslve actions. Chris got to tell his side of the story so let rihanna tell hers. Go rihanna…n I support u…I think she coulda dun it sooner…but better late than neva…
Comment by starryiis — November 5, 2009 @ 7:26 am
I don't think this is the place for people to come and bash Rihanna, have that much respect. Although I was left feeling some type of way after this clip, I had to remind myself it's such a set of clips, the full interview will be tomorrow. Save judgement until you've heard the FULL interview.
Harsh reality is what it is.
Comment by Yas — November 5, 2009 @ 7:55 am
I support u Riri! Love u forever, tell your story girl. Xoxo <3
Comment by Mel — November 5, 2009 @ 7:57 am
I made the mistake of going to the blogs and reading their ish and I read several comments that she "threw Chris under the bus". Really? Let's pretend (Rihanna fans let's play along a sec.)she did throw him under the bus.
He was wrong he had no business hitting her, had he kept his hands to himself there'd be no bus to throw him under. So stopt it! This is all of his own making. She made a mistake in judgement concerning him and shes owning up to it I suggest that CB and his fans excuse me stans do the same and keep it movin'.
Comment by zazzytink — November 5, 2009 @ 7:58 am
I cant wait for this interview rihanna always has my support
Comment by glam — November 5, 2009 @ 8:09 am
@ #51 Brianna, I tend to agree with you. Ri has to be very careful ater this interview
what she does, and where she goes. These are very funny times, and you have to look out for the haters, and especially CB stans. They may try to hurt her. May GOD go with her. Try and be VERY CAREFUL.
Comment by doubtfull — November 5, 2009 @ 8:10 am
I meant after the full interview is shown. 'after'
Comment by doubtfull — November 5, 2009 @ 8:12 am
Throw him under the bus? Really? First of all, she hardly threw him under the bus and second of all, anyone making judgments about a snippet of an interview isn't too bright. I really would love it if people used the brains God gave them sometimes.
Comment by TakeABow2 — November 5, 2009 @ 8:29 am
I want to know what happened that was for Rih "a wake-up call." I've watched the clip of the video three times, now, and have noticed the complete change of Rih's tone and demeanor and how she seems to be in the middle of telling a story when she starts talking about her realization that her decisions could influence other young girls. I hope ABC shows that entire segment and doesn't leave the audience looking at her like she's some fickle, flakey little girl who, all of a sudden, just wanted some publicity. Something triggered this. I hope they play the whole thing.
