Jay-Z Speaks Out about Rihanna & Chris Brown

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z sat down with Oprah Winfrey and disclosed his thoughts about the domestic abuse incident between pop star Rihanna and her former boyfriend Chris Brown.

Jay-Z said he had talked to Rihanna, 21, regarding the incident and explained that this was a situation that she could grow from.

“There’s a contingent of young people who are going through the same situation and no one is their voice,” the rapper said while on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” that aired on Wednesday.

“She can be their hero or she can choose not to grow from this,” Jay-Z continued.

Brown, 20, pleaded guilty to felony assault in June relating to a domestic violence incident involving his then-girlfriend Rihanna, and was officially sentenced in August. The judge sentenced Brown to receive five years of probation, six months of community labor in Virginia (his home state), and ordered him to not contact Rihanna and keep 100 yards away from her — 10 yards if they both attend a music biz event — for the next five years.

Jay-Z discovered Rihanna about five years ago and recently collaborated with her and Kanye West on his new hit single “Run This Town.”

I've said it before and I will say it again. I know lots of people think this whole Chrianna thing was puppy love, but IMO it was the real deal. now, I am grown enough to understand they both got to move on for their own sake and careers.

but to be honest, I wish nobody would've ever found out about the incident . I wish they could have worked this out in private. not all violent situations in a relationship are meant to end in disaster. some relationships can be worked out.

too bad these 2 didnt have their chance to do it in PRIVATE.

but whatever…Rihanna I know you have to move and you have the RIGHT to NEVER talk about this shyt in public.

@ EMPRESS – even that will do – because she has LOTS and LOTS of haters out there and she does not give a shit about them, the other day I was reading the comments from JJ and man-o-man the rediculous comments that were posted – I didn't realize people had such hate and venum flowing through their veins as human beings – I just shook my head in disbelief – honestly.

If she never addressess that incident thats her business and it doesnt mean she doesnt want to help others in a similar situation or that she hasnt grown from it. She has a right to keep her feelings and her reflections of happen to herself.

It has to be a little embarrassing to address the fact she got beaten by her boyfriend, I think I would be and I probably wouldnt talk about it to anyone outside my circle.

As a rihanna fan, I will admit that her live perforamnces need improvement but the girl does have a beautiful and very unique voice. And I must admit I appreciate that Rihanna is not popping her coochie to show the world she can "dance."

Also, did you notice that Beyonce's "halo" and "Sweet Dreams" songs are very Rihanna-like?

Anyway, I used to be a Beyonce fan but she is so damn fake. RiRi comes across as so real and genuine and just lovable.

Plus, for only being 21 she's got so much sophistication and presence. Very classy girl.

all i know is that haters want to hear how rihanna hit chris first, like that justifies him beating the shit out her like he did. all she has to do is say "i hit chris first" and we will never hear the end of it. rihanna is a smart girl and she hasn't said anything about the incident. she told us fans that she loves us and thanks us for the love and support. the media wont let this go. rihanna should not feel pressured to talk about this. i agree that we should hear it in her music. i cant wait for the new album. we as fans and stans need to make sure we support rihanna to the fullest when she comes back becuase after the reading all the bullshit comments about her on the blogs, there are people out there that really want her to fail and are counting the days until her downfall and that pisses me off.

Well my two cents to all this is that she has to repair her image first and she can do these by killing two birds with one stone is to introduce her album and address the situation without going into details because right now she is seen as being weak. Always remember if she wants to build a brand she as denounce violence period, but the notion she should just come and promote an album then u all must be crazy, then prepare to buy 50 albums each. Do u think moms will take their kids to rihanna concert with all the negative pubicity she has received….. Most of u guys dont really care all u want is just music, but if u think of her as a brand (umbrella, perfume line) possible clothing line, then u will have different view. Trust if middle america see her as a strong woman her album will easily go diamond. The incident should make her gain more fans not lose any…..

Also I never believed that BOOTLEG affadavit she did NOT sign it and cops can add to it. She has yet to speak a work about the report and she did NOT call 911 but I am to believe that once the cops arrived she started singing esp. IF (not saying she did I wasnt in the car) she did indeed hit him 1st numerous times. I do believe he was WRONG for hitting her but IF she did hit him 1st then I feel she is just as wrong as he is. I was worried when I first read this statement but then I watched Jay-Z on Oprah and it sounded differently when Jay-Z said that. Quote in this post is what Jay told Rihanna when he was talking with her about the incident and obviously he was in mentor/older brother mode during this conversation. He basically told Rihanna that she canâ€™t change what happen but she can determine her future, she can choose if she will be a winner or loser in this situation, if she will grow from this or not grow from this.

Of course we donâ€™t know how Rihanna responded to this conversation but I think the amount of time she spends with Jay-Z and the fact they are cooperating in a few projects can be a hint which option Rihanna chose (though she is the only one who knows definite answer).
