TMZ.com: Chris Brown was just sentenced to 5 years probation and 6 months hard labor, and the judge threatened Brown by talking about the “chatter” she hears.
Judge Patricia Schnegg said during the sentencing, “I am not immune to the chatter on the airwaves.” It’s unclear if she was saying that she’s heard reports that Brown and Rihanna are still talking … or if she was just saying he needs to be careful because she watches TV and reads TMZ.
Down to business, the judge sentenced Brown to perform hard labor at the Commonwealth Catholic Charities in Richmond, VA, where he must also take a 52-week domestic violence course.
The judge ruled Brown — who pleaded guilty to felony assault — must stay 100 yards away from Rihanna, unless they are both at an entertainment-related event, in which case he must stay 10 yards away. The protective order lasts 5 years.
He must provide DNA samples as requested by authorities.
Brown must also keep in touch with the Probation Department and is subject to search and seizure 24/7 for the next 5 years. He can’t own any dangerous weapons, including guns or knives.
Brown must pay $2,500 in restitution and another $2,500 in probation expenses. He must also pay a $30 criminal conviction fee — BARGAIN! He must also pay $400 that goes into a domestic violence fund.
Brown must get prior approval before leaving the country.

Rihanna’s attorney, Donald Etra, just said Rihanna did not object to the sentencing agreement. He said the stay away order was the decision of the court. He said he will not discuss their personal relationship.
He said the court explained to Rihanna how to modify the protective order. He said if Rihanna wants to change the protective order she knows how — but he wouldn’t say if she would pursue such a modification

Okay, I just watched CB’s sentence and TMZ live and I noticed 3 things that are, in my opinion, interesting:
1. According to Harvey (and partly according to what judge said) judge doesn’t need Rihanna’s complaint to say that stay away order was violated. If judge hears rumor about their secret meetings she can check if it’s true and then she can send CB to jail for that (and after this sentence and judge’s speech I have no doubts that she would check it).
2. Last time Etra said that he would be requesting a less restrictive protective order during this court meeting and he stated clearly that Rihanna didn’t want stay away order. Now he not only didn’t ask about it (although he, as her attorney, can do that) and had nothing against more restrictive stay away order, but also he didn’t want to say if Rihanna would like to modify this protective order. It’s strange, I don’t know how to interpret it.
3. Harvey talked about pictures of Rihanna from the day after the incident and he sounnded like a person who has seen them personally. I don’t know if it’s important but somehow it brought my attention.

I'm just so sad that they can not at least be friends after all they have been through together good and bad. I think it's not fair for the judge to say they can not even speak on the phone when they have so many mutual friends. This is a sad day to me, but at least they can start to actually put this mess behind them. I wish the best for them both.

@aiko and you forgot that he was there to request that the order be REMOVED he is on record as saying Rihanna does NOT want it and did NOT ask for it!
He said rihanna can go to court herself and request a modification to the stay away order they share the same frineds and work in the same industry so the order needs to be kciked to much jumping through hoops to avoid each other at parties and events

@ MissJ. Yeah, judge did example of Chris …example of celebrity justice. Race has nothing to do with it, read official report after it you will know why judge “doesn’t like himâ€, and doesn’t want to treat this case as a joke.
@ Avery. I don’t remember exactly what he said, but he said that it really looked much worse, that swelling was visible etc. There is possibility that he was only reporting what he heard about this picture but he was describing the picture like he saw it personally. I don’t know, maybe this is just my impression. Probably this video will be on TMZ website today or tomorrow.

Rihanna told investigators that the first incident occurred when the couple was visiting Rihanna’s family in her native Barbados back in August 2008. She described the incident as a verbal dispute, and added that no one was assaulted.
The second incident occurred in Europe in January 2009. It was a verbal dispute, which led to Rihanna slapping Chris Brown. In self-defense, Chris pushed her up “against the wall†to try and calm her down.
Three weeks before he attacked Rihanna, they got into an argument while driving which resulted in Chris getting out of the car and breaking both the driver's and front passenger side windows

Justice was served. He could have gotten a lot worse. I am happy that Rihanna can now move forward with her life. As for Chris Brown 'I hope he has learnt his lesson and next time he'll show restraint. He wouldn't be in this predicament had he shown some restraint.
